I was only 12 when this happened. It probably was a mistake to play it when I was so young and naïve, but I played it nether less.
I was at a sleep over with two other friends when they decided to bring out the board. We all laughed thinking it would just be some silly game. So we set it up and sat in a circle around it giggling then set our fingers lightly upon the wooden oracle and closed our eyes, concentrating.
"Is anyone there?" One of my friends asked, a smirk playing at their lips. We all waited in silence, our eyes focused intently on the board. The wooded planchette slowly dragged it's self to the word yes on the board and then rested back on a blank spot. We all looked at each other excitedly.
"What is your name?" I asked, grinning. The disk slowly moved to spell out the name Robert. We all nodded and decided to ask another question.
"Robert, how did you die?" One of my friends asked evilly. The planchette stood still for a minute then spelled out the word, executed. We all looked at each other nervously.
"What were you executed for?" I asked. This time the disk started shaking and moved slightly faster. We all paled at what it spelled out; murder.
One of my friends turned to me with a worried look. "I'm getting freaked out can we just put the board away?" She whispered timidly. I was nervous as well and agreed with her.
"Robert, we have to go now so we'd like to say bye." The disk stood still for a few seconds then moved slowly to the word no. My other friend got an angry look on her face.
"What do you mean no? What are you gonna do about it? You're not even near us are you?" The board started to tremble and it moved to spell out the words in the corner.
Just as it finished spelling it out a vase on a shelf from the corner across from us fell over and all of us froze.
"That's it." My friend angrily got up and grabbed the board, shoving it back in it's box.
"Wait he never said goodbye though! That's the most important rule!" I yelled in protest but my friend didn't listen.
That night when we were all sleeping we were all woken up by a loud scream. When we looked over we saw my youngest friend staring wide eyed at long scratches that had appeared down her arm. All of us paled as we slowly turned to the corner the ghost had said it was from and saw the faint outline of a person.
My friend has since then moved her bedroom to a different room shared with her brother and none of us has ever gone back in the room we summoned the spirit from.
