Chapter One | Ordinary
I am ordinary.
Just an ordinary girl who just graduated to her senior year in her high school and lives in a small town.
I am popular. Well, sort of. I wasn't exactly your typical popular girl. People know me and i know them. That's it. But still it doesn't make me extraordinary, does it?
Besides, I am close to just a number of people and rarely go out with anyone else but them.
And that's what led me to stay cooped up in my bed on a Tuesday afternoon.
It was break after all. What else do you expect?
But I was taken away from my fluffy blanket and comfy bed too soon.
It was my wonderful phone's wonderful ringtone that did the the job. And shocker, it was my best friend, Athena.
Yes, you heard it right, Athena. Apparently, her parents are obsessed with Greek mythology and so the name. And shocker again, Athena hates history.
But no offence to them, they are a pair of sweethearts.
So pick up the phone half pissed, half disoriented and half sleepy. I am sure three halves don't make a whole but I am far too sleepy to care about maths.
As soon as I bring the phone near to my ear, my ears are blessed with Athena shouting , "GET YOUR LAZY ASS UP! WE ARE GOING SOMEWHERE"
I wince and check if I am deaf yet, but no, my poor, poor ears are surprisingly working just fine.
"Huh? Now?" I stupidly ask.
"No honey, we'll be going five years from now."
I roll my eyes at her sarcasm.
"So early? And where to?"
"Early? Have you even checked the time? Its like 1:30. And we are going shopping! I don't have anything to wear and its summer!"
Athena loves shopping. Me, on the other hand, detest it. I don't understand the point. And as for Athena having nothing to wear? You might want to check her walk in closet drowning in clothes.
'Nope. Not coming"
"I'll buy you food"
Aah food. My weakest point. I should have seen this coming. But I wasn't about to turn down food.
"When will you pick me up?"
"I knew it! Be there in fifteen" she squealed and the line cut.
I sighed and got off my bed. My comfy, comfy bed. I already missed it and the small white fur ball curled up, sleeping in my bed.
Padfoot. God I loved that dog to bits.
Slowly, I made my way towards the washroom.
I almost cringed looking at myself.
My hair was a bird's nest. It will be a pain in the ass to comb it. Drool was on the edge of my lips and my eyes were crusted.
I quickly brushed my teeth and got into the shower to wash my hair.
I got out fairly soon and put on some black skinny jeans and oversized white shirt. I let my hair dry on its own put on lip balm for makeup.
God knows that effort was a lot for a girl who roams around in her house in just an over sized shirt.
By the time I was done, my phone was blaring with multiple calls, all courtesy of Athena. That girl didn't have an ounce of patience.
I rushed down and toward the door, bidding my parents goodbye (that basically consisted of me hollering, to escape my mom's questions).
Athena honked for me to rush and I quickly got into the passenger seat.
"You're late" was the greeting I received.
"No 'Hi, how are you?' that's rude Athena." I teased.
She just rolled her eyes and asked "So, any news from Janet?"
Janet was my other best friend, who was Athena's and my friend from kindergarten. She was apparently tanning in Bali. That lucky, lucky girl.
"Probably searching for a hit guy somewhere" I chuckled.
Athena just shake her head and we settle in a comfortable silence.
--------------------"I shall see you in heaven, Athena" I say. To say I was beyond exhausted would be an understatement. God knows why that girl needs so many clothes.
Athena just rolls her eyes at my dramatics and says, "Hurry up, food will be our next stop I swear."
45 minutes later, we were seated in the food court, eating greasy cheese burgers.
I was almost done and was longing the warmth of my bed and Padfoot's fur.
"Let's go" Athena said.
"Thank the lord!" I exclaim.
While waking, I crashed into someone.
"Sorry!" We said simultaneously.Out of the blue, I suddenly felt dizzy.
My vision blurred and I saw something weird.
It was the number five and a broken headlight.
That was it and I felt better again.
"Are you okay?" Asked Athena, concern in her eyes.
I just nodded.
Suddenly, there was a crash.
The person I had crashed against was laying in a pool of their own blood and in the scene was a car with a broken headlight.
It was eerily similar to the one i saw.
I felt nauseated.
Something wasn't right.
