Chapter two| Not So Ordinary
Something was definitely not right.I felt sick. No, not only by the bloody sight infront of me but also by the vision I recently had. The headlights were so eerily similar, I couldn't take my eyes off them.
But what did the number five mean?
I'd rather not think about it.
" You alright?" Athena asks.
I just nod my head, not trusting myself to speak.
The scene was surrounded by people and the police and the paramedics in no time. Athena and I were pushed back with rough shoves.
And I was grateful for that. I couldn't stand seeing the sight of the car.
"Alright, lets go home." Athena's voice quivered.
We got into the car and headed towards home. The whole ride was silent, unease filled the atmosphere. The scene was too shocking for us comprehend.
Especially for me, I couldn't for the life of me understand the vision I had just before the accident.
We soon reached home and Athena dropped me off.
"See ya later." And with that off she went.
I couldn't bother to greet my parents with all the things going on in my head. I wanted to be alone. Scratch that, I needed to be alone.
I rushed up the stairs and got into my bed.
Thinking about the vision was unnerving. And I couldn't stop thinking about the number five. What in the world did that mean?
And there was no one to whom I could talk about this. Who would believe me without thinking of me as a lunatic?
With all this going on in my head, headache soon caught up.
God knows, I needed a painkiller for that headache. I popped some in my mouth and drifted off to sleep.
And surprisingly it came soon too. Far too soon. And this wasn't a dreamless peaceful sleep I was expecting. No, quite the opposite in fact. Because all I could hear was voices calling my name over and over again.
And I couldn't wake up.
And that scared me. A lot.
***
I woke up.
Or I think I did. Because this definitely didn't seem like my room.
The surroundings were unusual. Ancient in fact.
There were pillars all around with engravings adoring them.
I saw a woman with white robes on. And no, they weren't the modern robes, they were the ancient ones. The one you wore in the medieval or even older times.
The woman seemed eerily familiar. And that was definitely unnerving.
I wanted to get the hell out of here.I heard voices calling my name.
***
I woke up.
My mother's face came into focus. She seemed distressed.
"Are you alright? I called you name but you weren't replying. So I came in to check on you and you were mumbling incoherent things." She spoke frantically.
Too surprised to say anything, I just nodded.
What was I mumbling? And what was happening in my dream?
"I'll get freshened up and come down."
My mother just nods and leaves.I brush my teeth quickly and wash my face.
I come down to notice dinner was already on the dining table.
What time is it? Did I sleep in through the whole day?
"Yes, you slept through the whole day. Now c'mon let's eat." She replies as if reading my mind.
And with that we get down to dinner.
***
After stuffing my stomach with more than it could withstand with delicious food, I got into my bed and opened my Facebook.
There was nothing even remotely interesting.
Until I saw Jake's post. With his girlfriend.
Jake, my crush from the starting of time, has a girlfriend?
I might as well dug a grave and cry with ice cream in it.
Athena sure as hell needs to know this.
***
"Aww poor baby. I am sure they will break up soon."
"Stop patronizing me Athena. He's a sophomore in college! I don't even know if he even thinks about me or even remembers me!"
"I am sure that's not the case Cara. Now Stop over thinking and go to sleep. I need my beauty sleep. Go shoo, we'll talk tomorrow."
"Okay bye. Goodnight."
I sigh and plop on the couch. I hope he remembers me.
Jake, Jake , Jake.
Oh, he looks so good with his blond hair and blue eyes and chiseled face. He might as well be the death of me.
And with these thoughts, I fell asleep.
