You sat on a porch swing in front of the house you and your family stayed in, flipping pages in a Batman comic. You lived in Alexandria with many other people and the community was run by Rick Grimes. Everyone considered the place a safe haven, even paradise for some. There was always a good stock of food and supplies and walkers weren't too big of a problem because of the walls around the community. Hell, for the kids there was even a small school. Breaking out of your thoughts, you looked up from your comic when you heard shoes clicking on wood. Carl Grimes waved at you with one hand before sitting down next to you.

"Hey. What's up?" You asked, returning the wave. "Come to call me for a supply run or something?" Carl kind of laughed and shook his head.

"No, not exactly. I wanted to ask you if you wanted to come with me to grab the comics me and Enid left in the woods. We can go to my house after we get them." He replied, his face getting a little red while he began to stutter. "If you want to, I mean." You snickered at him.

"Sure. I've read Batman too many times." You joked, standing up from the porch swing. "Do you wanna leave now? It's getting dark and we can't see walkers too good at night." Carl nodded and got up next to you.

"Yeah. It's no good getting eaten over some comics." He laughed, quickly walking down the steps and into the street. As you began to follow, he sped into a run and left you chasing after him. You caught up quickly and flicked him in the forehead, almost hitting him in the eye. He shouted at you and you stuck your tongue out with a laugh, slowing down when you reached the gate. Carl grabbed you and put you in a headlock, messing up your hair before letting you go.

"Payback's a bitch." You said humorously, moving your hair out of your face before moving to the gate to slide it open. Carl snapped to attention, looking away from you to look around for any others before slipping through the small opening. You followed after him, shutting the gate quietly closing it before letting him lead the way through the woods. The two of you had wasted a little bit of precious time messing around and the night had gotten a little darker. You stuck close to Carl, listening intently to your surroundings. You had no flashlight so you both had to be alert. Carl suddenly stopped and put his hand infront of you and turned around, nudging you in the direction of a hollowed out tree. Hearing a loud assortment of groans and growls, you quickly got inside, Carl slipping in behind you. About twelve or so walkers wandered around outside.

"We should've came armed. At least with knives." You whispered, peeking out of the dead tree nervously.

"I have mine, but it's better to avoid them." He replied, carefully stepping out to check for any more walkers after the small herd had left. Carl then quickly gathered the few comic books and motioned for you to come out of the log.

"Man, we really did almost get eaten over some comics." You joked, looking at the books in his hands. "Finally, something new to read." You murmured happily, reading the titles. Feeling him staring, you looked up at Carl and met his eyes. Your heartbeat sped up and you felt your face flush. He smiled lightly at you and you nervously returned it.

"You know, you're really pretty." Carl said quietly, moving his gaze to look down at his comics. Feeling confident, you rose your hand to touch his cheek which made him look back at you.

"You are too." You responded, immediately picking back up. "I mean, cute. 'Cause you're not a girl. Well, you could probably call a guy pretty but.. oh god. What I mean is that you're cute. You're really cute." Carl laughed at you and moved your hand from his cheek, holding it while he kissed your forehead.

"Thanks." He said in a sweet tone, taking nervously. "We should get back to Alexandria quick, we don't need to get in any more trouble than we're probably already in." He said, looking up at the sky and back down at you.

"You're right, yikes." You said, itching the back of your neck with your free hand. Gently moving your hand away out from Carl's, you grinned and began to run in the direction you came from. "Race you!"

"Come on! You got a head start!" Carl shouted, taking off after you. You quickly reached the gate and slid it open, sprinting in with him right behind you. Surprisingly, no one was at the gate to meet you. You let out a breath of relief, quietly closing the gate.

"Do you still wanna come back to my house? You could sleep over, if you want." Carl asked hopefully. You felt your heart speed up again.

"Yeah, uh, that would be great." You responded, walking next to him. "I really like you, Carl. I mean, like it wasn't obvious before, but you know." You laughed, rubbing your arm.

"I'm glad. I feel the same way, but I was pretty obvious too." He replied with a sheepish snicker. Stepping onto the porch of the house, Carl opened the door to let you inside before walking in after you. "Judith is probably sleeping, so try to be quiet. My room's upstairs." You nodded back at him, looking around the familiar interior. You've been over quite a few times and were good friends with Rick's group so this wasn't new to you. Carl sat down on his bed when you got into his room and you sat down on the floor. He gave you an amused look.

"What?" You said, jokingly squinting your eyes at him.

"You didn't think you were sleeping on the floor, did you? Come here." Carl said. You rolled your eyes and sat next to him, feeling his arm wrap around you. You leaned into him with no hesitation.

"I could get used to this, actually." You admitted. He puffed out a laugh and set his chin on the top of your head with a hum. "We should get to bed, though. It's late and we probably have to do some work tomorrow."

"Yeah, you're right. I'm tired, so that works pretty good." Carl replied, stretching before slipping underneath his blanket. You joined him and he once again wrapped his arms around you. "Goodnight." He murmured, tilting your head up to look at him. He smiled warmly and pressed his lips against yours for a few moments before breaking away. Your stomach fluttered and you couldn't suppress a wide grin. You weren't going to lie, you wanted more, maybe just a little. While he was still looking at you, you kissed him again before making yourself comfortable and laying your head against his chest. Carl's heart beat like a racehorse.

"Goodnight." You replied, still grinning stupidly. He was very comfortable and his arms around you made you feel safe. It was going to be easy to sleep tonight.

Just as you began to doze off, you snapped to attention and you felt your stomach flip. What was Rick gonna think?
