Serena's POV

I thew my suitcase in the trunk and stood there looking at the small townhouse that I was soon leaving.

"Hey mom when do you think dad will be home?" I asked.

"Probably in a few minutes! Go look out the window maybe he is pulling up now," my mom replied.

My dad has been in Tokyo for 3 weeks on a business trip so I haven't seen him for a while now. I rushed to the window to see if he was coming and to my surprise a black cab pulled up to our townhouse. I ran down the stairs and out the door to go greet him. Right as I opened the door I saw him step out of the cab, but he wasn't alone. After he came out of the car a young woman came too. She looked like she was in her late 20s. I had seen her before, she was my dad's business partner, but apparently that wasn't all that they were. My dad grabbed her by the hips and leaned in to kiss her. She didn't pull away.

I watched in horror and then I heard my dad say,"I'm going on another trip in a week. Care to join me again?"

She smiled and said in his ear,"I wouldn't miss it."

And then they started to kiss again. I stood there in horror. My face started to get hot and a tear rolled down my cheek.

*End of flashback*

"Serena? Serena, are you ready to leave?"

I whipped my head around and saw my mom standing behind me.

"Yeah. Lets get out of here, this place makes me sick."

I hopped into the back seat of the cab and stared out the window.

*5 hours later*

We had just gotten off the plane from New York to the LAX airport. "Wow, the weather here is so much nicer then it was in New York.." I thought. My mom went to go get a rental car so I was at the baggage claim getting our stuff while I waited for her. Yes! I spotted my red suitcase. I was never really strong so I always had trouble picking up my bags in the airport so then people would always stare at me and watch me try and get my bags. They found it amusing I guess..

Right as my bag came close to me I wrapped my hands around the handle and tried to pull. It wouldn't budge.

"Shit.." I muttered.

"Need a hand?" a voice from behind me said.

He put his hand on top of mine and put it on the ground. I turned around to thank him and then when I saw him my mouth literally dropped. He was one of the hottest guy I have ever seen. He had blue eyes and blondish hair and was really muscly.

"Uhh..umm...th-thanks," I stuttered.

"Hey it's no problem at all," he grinned and walked away.

Holy moly that guy was cute. As I looked around I realized all the guys were pretty cute. A lot of them waved to me or winked. I blushed a lot. I could feel my face heating up.

I'm very shy and quiet around guys. I get nervous because I don't think before I speak which is never a good thing so I usually don't say anything. And I never think I am good enough for anyone. I mean I'm decent looking I guess..I am 5"6, a fairly small but good size for a 16 year old, I have long brown hair and blue eyes. I have my dad's eyes. Which makes me feel sick every time I think about it because it's the only thing I actually like about myself and I don't want to be anything like him.

Struggling, I finally got my mom's bag and went up to where she said she would be. I saw my mom pull up in a grey Volkswagen and she signaled to hurry up. I put the stuff in the trunk and jumped into the front seat of the car.

"It's pretty nice here isn't it?" my mom said.

"Yeah, I mean I guess..Nothing I'm used too.." I mumbled.

To tell you the truth I was pretty pissed off about leaving New York. Sure California has the best weather and is the basically the coolest and nicest place to live in the county, but I had to leave my whole life back in New York. All my friends and my school and my home. And it was all my dad's fault. It's his mistake that is ruining my life.
