"Jennifer! Niall's here!" my aunt called from down the stairs.
"Send him up please Aunt Lisa!"
I heard heavy footsteps practically running up the stairs, and the next thing I knew I saw a blonde hair, blue eyed boy standing in my doorway.
"Top of the morning to ya my lady! Ready to go?" I couldn't help but giggle as my best friend bowed as he greeted me.
"Good day fine sir, why yes I am!" I curtsied before leaning in to give him a big hug.
"So how much did you pack?" he asked as he leaned out of our hug.
"Oh you know, just about my whole room practically. Just like the typical girl." I replied as I motioned towards my luggage.
"Jesus Jennifer! We're going to college, not moving to another country!" he whined as he saw my 5 large suitcases.
"Oh stop being such a pansy Niall! I'll help you with them, c'mon." I picked one of the suitcases up as he followed behind me with another two.
After taking down all of my bags, I called for my aunt to tell her goodbye.
"So the time has finally come hasn't it?" she asked while blotting her eyes with a tissue.
"Aunt Lisa, please don't cry! I already told you I'm coming back to visit whenever I can. This is for my future remember?" I tried my best to give my aunt some reassurance before I started to cry myself.
"I know sweetie, I know. I'm just going to miss you so much!" she squeezed me as she gave me one of her famous hugs.
"Aren't you glad your Uncle Peter said his goodbyes last night before work? We'd be a puddle of tears right now if he hadn't." she let out a small laugh as she pulled back.
"You better take care of her now, that's our whole life you're going to have with you." she playfully threatened Niall.
"Of course ma'am, I've already promised you and Mr. Ryan. And I never break my promises. She's precious cargo." he smiled as he looked over my aunt and I.
"Yeah I know, no doubt that she'll be in good hands. Gives me a little bit more of reassurance knowing you'll be alongside her while over there." she smiled warmly as she went to give Niall a hug.
"Do you have everything you'll need sweetie? Pj's, credit card, toiletries, lingerie?"
"YES Aunt Lisa! That'll be all! I'm sure I have everything." I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks as Niall began to laugh.
"Just wanted to double check. Well I guess I'll send y'all on y'alls way already. Oh! One more thing!" she hastily went towards her room and returned with a necklace.
"This is for you sweetie. Your mother and father planned to give it to you on your 19th birthday, but since you won't be here, I figured I'd give it to you now."
I opened up the heart pendant and saw a picture of my beautiful parents. I couldn't help the tears that began to fall from my eyes as I closed the locket and placed it around my neck.
"Thanks Aunt Lisa for taking good care of it all along. It's beautiful."
"You're very welcome. I know they'd be so proud of you honey. No doubt that they're watching over you endlessly with smiles on their faces." The tears began to flow from both of our eyes as she spoke.
I said my final goodbyes to my aunt Lisa, and then headed outside with Niall. He started up the car, and then we backed out of the driveway.
Niall decided to break the silence first.
