"I'm surprsised you didn't change your shirt." Niall pointed out.
"Well I knew that you weren't gonna bother changing either, and I was right!" I pointed at his jersey. "So, did you get to meet your roommate?" I asked him.
"Yeah I did actually. He's pretty cool. He stayed behind to get ready though, so we should be seeing him at orientation shortly." Niall and I continued to chat as we passed up other people making their way to the auditorium as well.
We took our seats towards the back as people began to file in simultaneously. I just quietly glanced at all of the different faces trying to read expressions and body language. It was a bad habit I always had ever since middle school.
"Oh look, there he is!" Niall nudged my shoulder.
"Who?"
"My roommate." Just as I turned to stare in the direction Niall was pointing, the boy turned and caught my gaze.
Great, how embarrassing. I quickly put my head down and covered my face with my hands.
"Hey man, what's up!" I heard an unfamiliar voice close to us and I had assumed it belonged to the boy I had just made eye contact with.
"Jenn, this is my roommate." I picked my head up to get a closer view of him. I had to admit he was very handsome. He had dark brown eyes, and light brown hair that was combed upwards at the top. He wore a longhorns shirt that looked like it would rip at any moment. And not in a bad way either, it's just his biceps were huge, and they were stretching at the thin material of his shirt just perfectly enough to make out the set of abs that were covered beneath it. He definitely had the body of an athlete. I looked over his arms only to notice that he had tattoos spread on them. They weren't many, but I'd say he had about 5 or 6.
"Hi, I'm Liam Payne. It's nice to meet you." He flashed me a warm smile as he held out his hand .
"I'm Jennifer Ryan, nice to meet you as well." I returned the smile as I shook his hand.
"So, how long have y'all been together?" he motioned at us.
"US, TOGETHER?!" As if on cue, Niall and I both surprisingly asked at the exact same time.
Liam laughed at our reaction. "Nevermind! That alone answers my question right there." he continued to laugh and we joined him.
"It's definitely not like that! We're best friends since we could remember." We both tried our best to explain in between laughs.
The noise in the room began to die down as a woman who was dressed professionally walked onto the stage.
Liam went ahead and took a seat next to Niall as we all stared attentively at the speaker. She was an older woman with shoulder length brown hair and a petite frame.
"Good Afternoon Longhorns! I'm so excited to have y'all here with me today. I know each and every single one of you have big dreams and plans for the future, and there is no better place to start then here at the University of Texas!" Everybody in the auditorium began to cheer and clap loudly.
"Now I know classes don't officially start until a couple of more days, so I'm gonna cut through the boring lectures as quickly as possible." She started to begin with the basic rules of the campus and I began to feel myself zoning her out.
After about 20 minutes, my attention was brought back as applause and cheers erupted again.
"Well now that the boring part is over, I'll let y'all be to walk around campus. Just to remind y'all there is a fair about to take place over by the Tower, and a lot of our upper class students will be there to assist y'all with anything y'all may need. See you all around very soon!" She smiled and gave all of us a small wave signaling that we could now leave.
