Shit. Shit. Shit. I'm in deep shit.
"Mom, it's not what it looks like I swear." I press
"Who are these girls? And why does she.." She says pointing to Kelse "..have that."
"I uhhh...-" I'm speechless. I've never been in trouble before, the words are just going to stumble over my tongue.
"I'm so sorry ma'am this is just a big misunderstanding." Alisha says. I turn to her with confusion on my face.
"My friend and I just wanted to see if Lyla would want to maybe hang out. We're sort of new to these apartments and I just so happened to stumble upon her. Lyla and I know each other from middle school."
I raise my eyebrow at her and she gives me the 'just go with it' look.
"So you two decide to go through the cabinets to look for alcohol?" My Mom questions, still suspicious.
"No..no no. Lyla offered us some water and Kelse over there insisted on getting the cup herself and conveniently she found that." She smiles sweetly.
I'm still in disbelief that she's lying to my own Mom in front of my face to save my ass. Well, technically I haven't done anything wrong, but still she's doing an weirdly good job at lying.
My Mom turns to me with her hands on her hips. "So, are you going with them or not?"
I look at her in disbelief. "Um..yes?" I'm terrible at this.
"Don't be out to late and stay out of trouble." She says in a concerned tone.
"I won't..." I squeak.
She looks at all three of us once more before shaking her head and walking to her room, while muttering something along the lines 'Teenagers. Lord help them.' Once I hear the door shut I shoot a glance at the two girls.
"Are you serious?" I whisper-shouted.
"Chill, just come on. It'll be fun." She beams.
"Yeah, you need a drink."
"I. Don't. Drink. Besides, I don't have anything to wear."
"That is not an excuse, your Mom said it was cool, and you look fine like that."
I look down at my outfit. I'm wearing black leggings with my gray sweatshirt. My hair is in a normal side braid and I'm only wearing mascara. Now I know she's just saying that. She's right though my Mom did say that I could go, I mean she doesn't know that it's a party involving drugs and alcohol. No drugs were mentioned, but it's still a possibility. It honestly doesn't sound like my crowd though..actually let me take that back because I don't like socializing. If I go, then what will I do that whole time? Just sit there? I really don't want to go.
"Come on, don't be such a prude." Kelse sneers.
prude. prude. prude. prude. Did she seriously say that..
"Excuse me?"
"Well, stop being so uptight and lets go already!." She says rolling her eyes.
I don't say another word. Instead I let the shock on my face speak for itself. Kelse is the first one to walk out of the door with Alisha trailing her. I can't believe I'm doing this, but I follow in their footsteps. I barely know these girls. We're not even acquaintances, well kind of, but not really. I am not prude, am I? I didn't even have the guts to defend myself. No, I'm not a prude. I'm just...weak I guess. I don't know.
