Back again, another night of watching jail cells. But, from what happened last night, maybe it's not as boring as I first thought? I don't know, but something was wrong, something is going on here that the other guards aren't telling me, because noone said anything about Toxic! Did they even know about him? Of course they had too, or else why would they warn me never to open that door. They know.
Leaning back in my fold-up chair, but not too far that it'll tip over again, eyes focused on the small candle light that I brought, just to brighten the place up a bit. The sound of snores and a leaky sink in the distance. Everything's quiet, well, WAS quiet till I heard a squeaky door opening down the hall. I jump up and clumsily grab my flashlight, almost dropping it in the process. Clicking the light on, I rush out and look down the hall, my light pointed like a gun. My mind thinking that maybe if I acted like I had that kind of weapon, then whoever it was would be scared back into their cell.
The person moved fast, climbing up the wall and onto the ceiling. It was too fast for me to shine a light on, but before I knew it, that thing came jumping down from the ceiling and knocks me down onto my back, wrists pinned down. I look up at the person, only to see Toxic grinning down at me.
"Hello again." He says.
I squirm around but to no avail.
I quickly notice that he's wearing my hat, his grin widens as I stare at it, "Like it? Looks pretty good on me huh Jack?" His wings extend like he's stretching them out, "Sorry about the scare Jack, but I just HAD to get out of that room, stretch out a bit." He leans down close to my face, "Why don't we go for a walk outside."
"Yeah, no thanks." I turn my head away from him.
My eyes widen as he LICKS my neck! I shiver and look at him, "Could you not!" I yell.
He stares at me for a moment before sitting up, "How about we play a game. You run towards the exit and open the door, and I'll chase you! If you don't get the door open." He leans down closer again and whispers into my ear, "You're blood will be splattered on these walls Jack." He stands up quickly and backs away from me, eyes still on me like I was his dinner.
I crawl backwards before clumsily standing up, Toxic growls and takes a step forward, "Run."
I don't hesitate to turn and sprint down the hall, frantically trying to get my keys out of my pocket as I got closer and closer to the exit. I could hear him running down the hall behind me, his steps making me nervous, adrenaline pumping through my veins makes me run quicker. My heart is racing as I see the door, but I mistakenly look behind me, Toxic is quickly catching up to me. I put my hands out as I run into the door, panic setting in as I try and put the key in the damn keyhole. I'm shaking, the key won't turn, I hit the door in frustration. Thoughts are going through my head at high speed, too quick to even remember them. Finally, the key turns, the door unlocks and I swing it open just in time as Toxic bolts out the door passed me. I run out of the building as he flies up into the sky, I laugh as he does a few tricks in the air. He looks happy to be out of there. I can tell he's about to leave, but he unexpectedly stops. Toxic turns to look at me and smiles, I smile back and wave before he flies off. I watch till I can't see him.
Sighing, I go back into the building, shutting the exit door before walking back to my desk. I lean back in my chair and close my eyes, sleep quickly consuming me.
I jolt awake and look around, I must have had a dream. I notice something different, putting my hand on my head, there's something there...my hat! I smile and look around, but there's no one else here, confused, I look down at my desk and see a note.
I pick up the note and read it, "Let's play again soon.
-Toxic"
