Chapter 10

"He wouldn't?" Linh said as Sophie broke the news to her and Tam. Since Dex and Fitz were at their homes doing makeup work, she went over to Linh's and Tam's house because she needed someone to talk to.

"He did. I remember seeing him in my sister's room two nights ago. Plus this necklace is unclonable. Alden made sure of it." Sophie groaned, leaning back against the couch.

Linh wrapped her arm around Sophie and hugged her softly. "You will go, won't you?"

It could be a trap, Tam shadow-whispered.

"Why are you doing that?" Sophie wasn't in the mood at have her shadow invaded.

"Oh he has to keep his mouth shut until school tomorrow because he said some rude words at Keefe before he left and nearly got into another fight with him." Linh glared at Tam and he just shrugged.

Badness is in my blood. What are you going to about it?, Tam grinned and Linh kicked him in the shin.

Ow, Tam glared at Linh and she grinned back.

"Anyways, Tam's right it could be a trap but it's your family. For family, you sacrifice everything for them. We know." Linh put her hand in Tam's and looked at Sophie.

"Tam sacrificed his education at Foxfire for me when I sent away to Exilium. I still have to repay him for that somehow."

You sacrificed yourself so me and Sophie weren't taken away by the Neverseen. You don't have to repay me., Tam clutched Linh's hand and kissed the top of her forehead.

"Look Sophie, we'll be behind you for this. Keefe didn't say anything about bringing  accomplices, right?" Linh got up from the couch and walked over to the stairs. She got on her knees and placed her hand on the first stair.

Sophie was about to ask what she was doing when a little pop came from the stairs and Linh pulled out a chest.

She motioned for Tam and Sophie to come and opened the chest, revealing different color light crystals and various weapons.

"Me and Tam discovered this the first week we lived here. It has crystals that will take you anywhere in the world. And weapons that will stop any species especially humans and elves."

It has a light crystal that will take us to a specific person. All we need is a blood sample., Tam took a clear crystal from the chest and opened it.

We'll use it to leap to you when you meet Keefe. Just need a little blood. Do you trust us?, Tam looked at Sophie in a sympathetic glare.

"I trust you. But if you want my blood, I rather have Linh get it. She's more gentle." Sophie lightly smiled.

Figures, Tam rolled his eyes and took a small knife from his back pocket.

"Do you always carry that?" Sophie stuck her palm out as Tam handed Linh the knife.

Yeah but I haven't had a reason to use it without severely harming anyone.

"You're weird."

Says you.

"Whatever."

Sophie flinched a little as Linh carefully cut into Sophie's palm. The blood formed a small puddle in her palm.

"Ok here's the creepy part." Linh mumbled.

The blood started to float above Sophie's palm and flew into the clear crystal.
