Tom's POV

"We're here"

The officer in the drivers seat, Officer Miller, got out the car

"Where's she going?"

"She's making sure the paths clear and getting the stretcher"

I looked down at Carl, brushing the hair out his face

Rick's POV

"I just want to say thank you"

"For what?"

Bob was laying on the sofa in front of me

He doesn't have long

"Before the prison, I didn't know if there were any good people left,
I didn't know if anybody was left."

I sat down facing him, Judith in my arms

"You took me in.
Cause you took people in.
It was you, man.
What I said yesterday,
I ain't revising it.
Even in light of current events,
Nightmares end.
They shouldn't end who you are.
And that is just this dead man's opinion."

He's right

"I'll take it"

"Just look at her and tell me the world isn't gonna change"

Carl's POV

I could feel something touching my face, stroking it, my eyes opened, looking up at Tom once again, he was looking right into my eyes, arm across my chest, hand stroking my face. Neither of us moved, neither of us said anything.

I like this, I like him

"Fuck!!" I heard a woman yell, Tom quickly drew is gun using his right arm, holding me tightly with his left

"What was that?" He questioned the woman in the passenger seat

"She's probably ran into a few rotters, let me go help her"

"Go" Tom replied still pointing the gun in her direction as she left the car and disappeared around a corner. "It's gonna be okay, you're gonna be okay" he said without taking his eyes off the corner.

"Tom? Where are we?"

"A hospital, they're gonna help you, then we're gonna go back to the church, get you to your dad."

"How do you know they're not just going to kill us?"

"Cause I'll kill them if they try it"

I paused for a moment "Have you ever killed anyone? Like a person, not walkers"

His breathing slowed down, his grip tightened "Yes"

I can tell he was uncomfortable with that, with telling me, but he did it  anyways, I think I need to tell him how I feel

"Thank you Tom"

"What for?"

"For looking after me, for saving me, for keeping me alive in both body and mind"

"It's nothing" he replied, still focused on the corner

God damn it, look at me

"Tom look at me" no reply, no movement, I reached right arm up and cupped his face "Tom"

He quickly looked down, locking eyes "yeah?"

"I think, I think I l-"
