Jason tugged at his hair frowning at himself for picking such a shitty excuse of a girlfriend, Marie. He was considering if he should break up with her or not. He knew he should have left her long ago after finding out that she was seeing another guy. But, he couldn't be bothered to break up with her. Untill now.
"Hey cupcake," Marie grinned at him outstretching her hands and gesturing for him to come closer to give him a hug as if he was a 3 years old. Jason rolled his eyes at her actions. Everything she did used to be so cute to him but now it looks annoying. She pouted when he didn't bother to make a move to hug her. "What is wrong with you?"
He shrugged at her questions. "I don't know. Why don't you guess what is wrong with me?"
"You failed a test?" She guessed.
He raised both of his eyebrows. "I'm not that stupid, I studied really hard for it."
"I never said you were stupid. You told me to guess what is wrong with you." She shrugged nonchalantly.
"This," Jason pulled out his phone showing her kissing a guy, "is what happened."
"Are you sure that's me?" Marie tilted her head to the side.
"Yes, i'm very fucking sure that it's you." Jason said with his jaw clenched.
They both looked at each other with frown on their faces not one of them speaking a word until Marie broke it.
"That girl in the picture is me alright," Marie raised both of her hands in surrender.
"Why did you cheat on me? Am I not good enough?" Jason asked her continuously not giving her the chance to answer. "What does he have that I don't? Am I a bad boyfriend?"
Marie breathed through her nose before answering. "There's nothing wrong with you. You got the looks and great personality. It's just that you are always busy with god knows what and when I asked you to go out with me, you always declined me saying that you are busy with basketball practice."
Jason frowned at her. "That is not a good enough reason for you to cheat on me. We are over." After he said that he left her standing near his locker.
Then, the whispers started. Most girls are giddy at the fact that Jason is now single and maybe they could stand a chance with him. Jason just ignored them and walked toward his next class. He took his usual seat in the back of the class.
He took out his phone as a distraction from the people around him who was gossiping about his break up. He was ignoring the noise until he heard some guys talking about a mysterious number. He scrolled through his phone trying to look as if he was not eavesdropping their conversation.
"I am not lying," A guy he recognised as Matt spoke.
"Sure you don't." One of his friends rolled his eyes.
"Nick don't roll your eyes at me." Matt fake scolded Nick causing Nick to roll his eyes yet again. "If you guys don't believe me, you can give her a call." Matt said in a loud voice.
Jason furrowed his eyebrows. So what is so mysterious about the girl?
"If you want proof, I can give it to you." Matt raised his eyebrows. "Remember when I said I wish Cindy fell down the stairs? She got admitted into the hospital, am I right?"
His friends looked at him for a moment. Then Nick yelled. "Dude, that is so cool!"
"I know right!" Matt yelled back.
"So all you have to do is wish?" Another guy asked.
"No, in order to make that wish come true, you have to call her."
"So what if I wish to be rich?" The guy asked again.
"What the fuck dude," Nick slapped the guy's arm. "You are rich."
Then they all laughed. Jason shook his head at them. Stupid people. Mr Ben walked in with a smile on his face. "Guess what?"
"What?" A girl asked back.
"Pop quiz time!" The whole class groaned at that.
Jason tilted his head to the side in amusement. It sounds interesting. A mysterious phone number? Probably a witch runs that line but whatever it is he is sure to give it a try.
