Marco knew the odds, and they were low. They were pretty much off the charts, in a bad way at least, so low they probably aren't on the chart at all.

But they did it any way, you know why? He takes risks. Safe Kid nickname just went out the window. I mean, all the weapons the people of Mewni had we're a couple of swords and spears, and maybe even a few wand bearers, but he did it any way! All he had was his bear fists. And he did say he had neither experience in fencing, nor the strength to even pick up a

Marco ran straight through the army of Mewnians and punched and kicked all the monsters that got  in his way to Star.  "Star!" He called out, just like he did when they waltzed in the school dance.

He found the princess standing on the top of a barren hill, conscious and fighting, but it was evident that she was feeling weak. She kept fighting, blocking and dodging every one of Tom's attacks that came close to her. Even whacking a demon in the face at some point.

Until a spell from nowhere came and hit her side. Marco screamed in fear, "Star!" She fell down, and Marco caught her with his hands, and buried his head on her chest.

"Star, please, wake up!" He demanded, but was given no response.  Amazingly, he could feel her still pulsing. The boy looked around, seeing Tom slowly walk near him, He laid her down on the grass, as he laid her down, a dark shadow towered behind him.

"Please don't tell me." He whispered under his breathe, But to no avail, it was the familiar Demon, with the three red glowing eyes. "Did you really think. That a human  like you. Could actually have a chance to defeat me?" Tom asked with a mischievous smile.

Marco searched for anything in his bag, sticking his hand inside until...

Toffee's Wand! He dropped it back into the bag and sprawled backwards, waiting for the correct moment.

"Star will be mine!" Tom shouted. His voice weary after a long battle.

"She doesn't deserve you!" The boy shouted back, still slowly pacing backwards.

"Oh! And you do?"

Tom gave him evil glare. Marco looked down, thinking about what he just said.

"No, but she doesn't deserve someone like you!"

He pulled out the wand by his bag, and countered the evil black light coming from the demon.

They were both instantly pushed away by the strong force of the blasts.

Amazingly, both Marco and Tom still had the strength to stand up and fight.

"Napalm Fireball!" Marco shouted, and the blue flamed object hurled towards Tom, "Skull Shield!" And the large skull took the hit of the fireball.

"Supersonic Sound Wave!" Tom then chanted, suddenly, a pulsation of deafening sounds began to play across the hills. Marco then cast, "Lizard Snare!" A giant lizard wrapped it's tongue around the demon.

"Wind Slice!" - Tom muttered. Cutting the tongue wrapped around him, and said, "Inferno Fist!" But as soon as he did, Marco shouted, "Rainbow Confetti Punch!" And a the two large fists began hurling towards the other.

In the midst of their battling, Star began to slowly get back on her feet. Through smoke fog, and sounds of fellow Mewnian Kind clashing their weapons. She saw, Marco getting weaker. And Tom's smirk getting wider. She looked into the grass, and spotted the wand.

She quickly picked it up. And charged at Tom. But instead of casting a magic spell, she whacked the tip of the wand against his head.

Marco coughed at the smoke, he couldn't see a thing. He also noticed that he couldn't hear the demon cast another spell. He ran towards where Star lay. But she wasn't there!

"Star?!" He shouted aloud. And for the first time in his life, somebody answered back. . .

"Marco!"

He ran towards the faint voice. Only to see Tom sprawled on the grass. And Star a few feet away from him, pointing her wand cautiously, but showing a serious face.

Marco also pointed his wand at the demon. As the smoke cleared, Marco saw the demon's merciful expression. But Star's was nothing like his, he knew that she was going to kill him. This was not her. Not by a long shot.

"Star. . ." He calmly said, but nothing in her expression changed.

"Star don't do it. . ."

Nothing.

"Star, H-he's not worth it. . ."

Her wand began glowing dark blue.

"Star! Show Some Mercy! This isn't you! He's not worth it!"

Lighting began to charge up from the encrusted tip.

"No! Please DON'T!"

"Marco!"

There was silence. . . The wand was still charging with lightning.

"He may have destroyed your kingdom. Your home. But he did it all for you. . ."

"How is this supposed to make me feel better?!" She cried aloud.

Marco now dropped his wand. Walking closer to Star.

"He deserves to be in Jail. But he doesn't deserve to be brutally murdered." Marco begged as he continued walking to Star.

"Everyone deserves mercy. You don't have to be a murder Star." He stopped walking. And continued to talk -"This isn't you. The Star Butterfly I knew, was sweet, innocent, she was the greatest."

"Funniest."

Star began tearing up.

"Bravest."

Waterfalls were falling down her face.

"Most beautiful girl I've ever seen. . . And I know she wouldn't do anything like this. . ."

Star couldn't believe Marco was actually going with this.

"We argue, we fight. . . But we always forgive, and forget. Cant you do that now?"

She shook her head.

"Bloody." She began muttering

"Don't."

"Death."

"Star!"

An overwhelming silence took over the place. As if the battle  by the hills had already seized.

"Blast."

"NO!"

Before the blast could have reached the demon. Marco had jumped in front of blast. Taking the hit.

. . .

And was holding the pair of shiny dimensional scissors. That reflected the blast and headed straight for the girl.
