Chapter 15~ Diaries, Draco, and Diagon Alley
Life in the Burrow continued as normal. During the day once we completed whatever tasks Mrs. Weasley had for us, Fred, George, Anna and I would be up in the twin's room, testing and inventing new products that could be used in our joke shop. The only thing preventing us from opening the shop once we graduated would be the lack of shop issue we were currently facing. Considering Anna and I were disowned, we had some money between the two of us, but not enough to cover the costs of production of products, and purchasing a store front.
As normal, no one noticed or cared when an explosion would come from Fred and George's room. The only thing out of the norm were the looks Harry would give us after spending a day in Fred and George's room, making explosions go off.
About a week after the flying car incident, Fred George Anna and I, still clad in or pajamas, stumbled into the kitchen. We each retrieved our yearly Hogwarts letter and read them. Per usual, the first thing I looked at was the book list.
Fourth-Year Students Will Require:
The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 4 by Miranda Goshawk
Break with a Banshee by Gilderoy Lockhart
Gadding with Ghouls by Gilderoy Lockhart
Travels with Trolls by Gilderoy Lockhart
Voyages with Vampires by Gilderoy Lockhart
Wandering with Werewolves by Gilderoy Lockhart
"You've been told to get all Lockhart's books too!" Fred said toward Harry. "The new Defense Against then Dark Arts teacher must be a fan - bet it's a witch."
Fred then caught the looks Anna, Mrs. Weasley, and I were throwing at him and quickly began to busy himself with the jar of marmalade.
"That lot won't come cheap." Said George, looking at his parents. "Lockhart's books are really expensive..."
"Well, we'll manage." Mrs. Weasley said, but she looked a little worried to me. "I expect we'll be able to pick up a lot of Ginny's things second hand."
I was about to offer to help them pay for her supplies, but before I could, Percy walked in. He was already dressed with his prefect badge pinned to his sweater vest. Once he sat down, Anna, Fred, George and I started to talk quietly to ourselves, none of us very interested in whatever Percy had to say.
My attention was drawn back in when Mrs. Weasley asked us kids: "What're you all up to today?"
The boys and I had planned to go up the hill to a small paddock the Weasley owned. The paddock was the perfect place for us to fly and practice Quidditch, as long as none of us flew up too high. Anna and Ginny were going to stay in the house. We had asked Percy if he wanted to play as well, but he had said he was busy. All summer long he had been keeping to himself, only coming out of his room for meals.
"Wish I knew what he was up to." Fred said with a frown on his face. "He's not himself. His exam results came the day before you did; twelve O.W.L.'s and he hardly gloated at all."
"That's a rare sight, Percy not gloating over grades." I added.
"Ordinary Wizarding Levels." George explained to Harry. "Bill got twelve, too. If we're not careful, we'll have another Head Boy in the family. I don't think I could stand the shame."
Mrs. Weasley woke us all up early when Wednesday came around. We all had bacon sandwiches and soon after we pulled our coat on, ready to Floo to Diagon Alley.
