Chapter 25 ~ Poking, Prefects and Potters

I woke up to someone poking my face.  “Yes?”  I asked, knowing it was either Hermione, Ginny or Anna.

“Get up!”  I opened my eyes to see Hermione standing over me.  Ginny was also waking Anna up.  The four of us thought it would be fun if we were to have a girl’s only night, considering we were all sleeping at the Leaky Cauldron that night.  We spent most of the night talking eating and gossiping, so we didn’t get much sleep.  I had no idea how Ginny and Hermione were up and peppy so early in the morning.

            “Hermione.”  I whined.

“Come on!  We’re going back to Hogwarts today Izzy!”  She exclaimed.  I noticed how she was still wearing her pajamas and her hair was in a messy, frizzy bun.

“Okay, gosh Hermione, I’m up.”  I sighed, sitting up from my place on the floor.

“Good.”  She said, very content with himself.

Hermione got a cat, a cat.  I really don’t know why she did; I thought she was getting an owl… but no.  A cat.  A. Cat.  I don’t really like cats… at all…

Percy got his Head Boy badge, and Fred and George snatched it and that morning, Percy was looking all over for it.  It was very amusing watching him run around the Leaky Cauldron looking for it.

In other news, Sirius Black is out of Askaban.  He’s my second cousin and notorious murderer.  He killed a bunch of Muggles, and Peter Petigrew, not long after he turned in Harry’s parents to the Dark Lord.  I don’t really understand why he did those things, if everything in Mum’s journal is true.  He seemed like a really good kid, and Lily, James, and Peter where some of his best friends…

The Ministry of Magic sent cars to transport all of us to King’s Cross that day.  When we got to the platform barrier, we went through in pairs; Mr. Weasley and Harry, Percy and Ginny, Ron and Hermione, Fred and George, and finally, Anna and I, closely followed by Mrs. Weasley.  Mrs. Weasley gave each of us a hug, kiss, and a sandwich and we were rushed on the train.  Fred, Anna, George, Ginny, Lee and Angelina and I found a compartment and Ron, Harry and Hermione went off on their own.

I decided I could spend the long train ride to read some of Mum’s journal entries.  I had just finished reading one dated towards the end of her first year that was dedicated to Remus Lupin.  Just within the past few days of reading, I have learned about the Black family, who and where the idea of the Marauders came from, a lot about the students my Mum was friends with and just how similar my Mum was to Anna and I at that age.

All of a sudden the train started to slow down to a complete stop.  “What’s going on?”  Lee asked, waking up from the nap he was taking when the train gave a jolt.

“We’re not there yet, are we?”  Ginny asked.

“We can’t be we haven’t been on here that long.”  Anna answered.

“There are people moving outside.”  Fred said, looking through the rain covered window.

“I’m gonna go look for Harry, Ron and Hermione.”  Ginny said, standing up.

“You thought you were.”  I said, grabbing her arm.  “You’re staying right here.”  The lights went out.

The figures were moving in the isle of the train, I pulled Ginny back down in her seat.  The train was suddenly very cold.  I held Ginny close to me and the door to the compartment slid open.  A cloaked figure was floating in the door way of the compartment; its face was covered by its hood.  The room was freezing cold as the dementor looked around the room, as if it was looking for someone.  I didn’t move, and I held my breath.  Fred was next to me, holding my hand, but the normal feeling I would get wasn’t there.  I felt empty.  The dementor didn’t move it must have been looking for Sirius Black.  “He’s not in her.”  I heard myself say as sternly as I could.  It looked around one last time before leaving.
