Chapter 49

Harry's pov:

I step out of the shower and see a stack of clothes on the bed next to my uncle.

"I brought you some food too," he says and points to the table next to the chair in the corner.

"Thank you," I mumble.

I walk over to the bed with the towel securely wrapped around my waist and walk back into the bathroom.

I drop my hands onto the sink and run a hand through my damp hair. What am I going to do? I can't stay here but I can't go back to Jaycie. She would be in danger again. I squeeze my eyes closed and take in slow deep breaths to try and calm down.

I want more than anything in the entire world to hold her in my arms and kiss her and tell her that everything is going to be okay. But I can't have that. I can't hold her. I can't tell her how much I love her. I can't comfort her when she's scared. I can't tell her everything's going to be okay because if I'm there it won't be okay. Everything will seem happy at first but when we least want it everything will come crashing down again because of my messed up life and family.

I tighten my grip on the sink and stop breathing. My hand slams the counter top making some things fall over. I sigh and pick them up putting them back in place. The clothes that my uncle gave me are on the floor.

"You okay," he says from the other end of the door.

"Yeah," I choke out,"just accidentally tripped and pushed some stuff."

"Be careful. Don't want you to get hurt anymore," he says.

"Thanks," I mumble.

I pick up the clothes and start putting them on one by one. Each movement makes my entire body ache and I feel like just dropping to the ground and sitting there all day but I keep moving anyway.

After in done changing I walk back into the room and sit in the chair with the food in front of it. These last couple of days have made me lose my appetite so I'm going to eat slowly. I take a sip of water and look over at my uncle. He's just staring at me like he's in a kind of trance. I have so many questions I want to ask so I'm going to ask now.

"Can you tell me anything about my mother?" I ask.

He snaps out of his trance and stares at me for a second before he responds. "Anything I know you can know," he says.

"What was her name?" It's sad that I have to ask that. I didn't even know my own mothers name.

"Anne," he says smiling.

"Anne," I repeat and smile.

"Was she nice or was she like Des?"

"No no no," he says quickly,"she was amazingly kind and generous. She was not at all like Des. They did love each other, how I don't really know. You're father was over protective and rude and didn't even let her breath on her own, bye she put up with it. He truly did love her. That was not a question. He didn't know about his dad either and that's when he went worse. He always had an evil look in his eyes that made you feel like he was stalking his prey. Even your mother was starting to fear him even if she knew he would never actually hurt her. Well that's what she thought at the time. He started to hit her when she disobeyed. All of his anger took over and he couldn't tell the difference between right or wrong. Every time he hit her he would apologize and she always forgave him. Always. One night she found out she was pregnant and a few days later your grandfather found out and brought them both here. It only got worse. It was horrible and I know because I followed her everywhere. She told me everything no matter what. There wasn't anything se couldn't tell me and she knew that. After a while it got too bad and she was worried for you. She knew I would take care of you which she couldn't do. So she ran and I ran somewhere else with you. It was hard for both of us because we didn't know when we would meet again and she didn't know when she would get to see her son again. I'm really sorry but I know one day we will all be together again."

My eyes are shut tight and I refuse to open them. My heart clenches in my chest and its like all the air is gone from the room.

"Do you have any idea where she is now?" I ask in a whisper.

"No," he says and I can hear all the pain in his voice.

"She.. She,"he begins,"she was everything to me. My best friend. My sister. I didn't have anybody else. I wasn't in love with anybody. She was all I had. The worst part is is that you don't even have memory of her and for that in truly sorry."

"It's not your fault," I choke out.

"I shouldn't have treated you the way I did."

"It's okay. It's in the past."

We both stay silent for a while until he clears his throat and gets up.

"I'm going to talk to Des," he announces.

"You're going to talk to him now? After what just happened with him. He might do what he did to me to you."

"He wouldn't," he laughs.

Why is he laughing. Does he not know how much that hurts.

"Why are you laughing?"

"Because he would never do anything like that to me," he says,"Anne would never allow it and the only reason it happened to you is because he wants you to learn o be tough."

"Tough," I repeat.

"Trust me though, don't believe his definition of tough. He's got it all wrong."

With that he walks out of the room and closes the door behind him.

I drop onto the bed and bury my face in the pillow. I move my body under the covers and wrap them up around my ears for maximum warmth. It reminds me of how warm I would be at night wrapped around Jaycie. I close my eyes and bring another pillow close to my chest and hold it.

My eyes start to close and I immediately fall asleep.

I'm laying down in a field with small flowers surrounding me. A small river lays in front of me creating soothing water sounds. The sun is shining but is slightly hidden behind trees letting me see. The wind blows lightly making a slight breeze.

I take in a deep breath and let all the air fill into my lungs. My eyes close and I enjoy the peaceful feeling.

Suddenly I feel someone next to me and I open my eyes. I turn my head to the left and see Jaycie smiling at me.

"You're here," I breath out smiling.

Her smile grows bigger and she leans over me. Her head is above mine with her hair hanging down. The wind blows her hair a bit but she doesn't flinch. She doesn't blink. Out eyes stay locked.

"Yeah," is all she says,"I'm here."

My breathing picks up and I pull her down to me. Our lips crash together and move perfectly. Everything around us making it all the more beautiful. My arms warp around her waist and one of her hands tangles in my hair. My heart starts to race and my muscles tighten around her.

I turn us over so I'm laying on top of her now. Our kiss is momentarily broken and I look at her smiling face that urges me to kiss her again.

My lips move to her neck and up her jaw, behind her ear, her cheek, her nose, her forehead and once again her lips. One of my hands runs down her body and she grips my shirt in between her hands. Her head lifts forward a bit and pushes her lips against mine more. We kiss until my head falls and gently lays on her forehead while I try to catch my breath.

"I've missed you so much," she says.

"Me too," I say.

"Please," she begs,"don't ever leave me again."

"I promise."

We both smile and I peck her lips before I lay back down next to her and wrap one arm around we shoulder. She holds onto my arm and cuddles into my shoulder.

"It's so beautiful here," she says.

"Yeah," I say without thinking,"you are. I mean it is."

She laughs at my stumble and kisses my neck lightly.

"You're cute," she laughs.

"I love you," I say.

"I love you too."
