Chapter 4

*blurred lines starts playing* Ugh, I have to wake up. I slowly get out from under my covers grab my phone, point it away from me, and turn down the lighting on my screen. If I don't I'll practically did right there, because my slow adjusting eyes don't adjust fast enough. The reason I have blurred lines playing is because I figured if I buy a song I hate or find annoying and I put it as my alarm then I'll have to wake up right? Anyways I put on my deep red sweater, which my sun tank top light colored ripped jeans and deep red converse. I figured if this is a orientation then I should dress up a little, if you don't think that's dressing up for me just trust me on this one.

I head down stairs quietly and grab a pop tart from the pantry. "Are you sick honey? Do you need to go to the hospital or something? I can take you there?" My looks at me with a concerning face. Oh my lord, does she not think I'm capable of waking up early? "No mom. Sheesh I decide to wake up early once...anyways Lucas texted me last night saying there's a freshman orientation thing 30 minutes before school starts. So I guess I have to get at 7. Since the bus won't come do you want to drop me off?" I ask really nicely. If I don't then I'll end up taking my bike instead. Which isn't bad, but looking at the time I don't think I'll get there on time. "Of course, I'm glad you have Lucas as a friend, or boyfriend I don't really know with kids these days. The other day little Kayla comes home from school with a grin on her face and I asked her why she's so happy. She replies 'I got a boyfriend mom, another one to add to my collection'. I was shocked so I asked how does she get so many and all she says is 'I just talk to them and they just all love me, so I spend time talking to each one throughout the day. Mom get with the system'. "What how does Kayla have boyfriends and I don't!" Oh my lord, she's only 6 for gods sake. "I know, but it's so cute. Anyways go into my car or your gonna be late" "Aye aye captain" I say back as I salute her. 15 minutes later I arrive at school exactly at 7. To my surprise I see Alex on bench and Lucas on the other. They both look brightly at me. I look at Alex then Lucas, then Alex then Lucas. Wait why does Lucas have a box in his hand? Anyways I didn't promise Lucas I would walk w him I promised Alex. So I walk over to Alex and when Lucas sees this his face is filled with confusion. "Hey Alex how are you today on this fine morning?" I ask in a happily mood. "Quite swell Elena. You look lovely as always." Awww we just kinda stand there waiting for other freshman to come in and start walking. After 5 minutes we know somethings up, we start to walk towards Lucas who's sitting down with a pissed face.
Lucas pov
Why would she go over to Alex? Why is he even here? I mean I made up a fake orientation so I could surprise her and ask her out properly. I mean after last night when she asked, I was about to say yes. Then I realized a special girl like her deserves a special way to be asked out. What did I do wrong ? I see them walk over Alex's hand hanging waiting for hers but she doesn't take it. "Hey Lucas when's the orientation?" She asks me with confusion in her eyes. "Uhh yeah about that... Well you see....I mean in all fairness I didn't really lie so..?" Ok well her face looks pissed I better come out with the truth. "Ok here it is. Last night you asked if we were dating. I said no...wait don't interrupt me. Anyways I said no because I realized a special girl like you deserves to be asked out in a special way. So I planned all night and made told you to come to the orientation 40 minutes early. Anyways, what I wanted to ask you is. Elena Johnson, from the moment I met you on the bus til the moment I saw your smile at your house. I knew you were very special. So I wanted to give you this promise ring, that I've changed for the better and you've helped me with this change. Will you be my girlfriend?"
Elenas pov
He's basically on one knee. Damn now I feel bad for inviting Alex. I was about to say yes when Alex interjects"Ask him how's he changed, you should be able to know everything" I look at Lucas and he gets up and starts to tell me. "You see we were in 8th grade and I know we were young. Anyways my friends and I decided to make a list of all the girls in the grade and it was our goal to date, kiss, and sleep with all of them. We ended up doing everyone, me doing the most." He looks at me apologetically. This can't be happening, he's just like Bennett. "Tell him how your stupid plan affected me." Alex says glaring at Lucas. "Well you see Alex at the time was dating a girl named Sara, she was really pretty and nice like you. She was the last girl who all the other guys failed at because she was committed to Alex. I finally broke her, she was basically cheating on Alex. We went on a date, I kissed her and later that night we went back to my place and I slept with her..." Wait what! Oh my lord no wonder why Alex doesn't like him. "What! You think girls are just some toy don't you. I can't even believe you right now, I mean Lucas you lied to me. If you would of told me sooner this would be easier for me to take. But noooo you decided to tell me right before you ask me out. Should I really fall for it, I mean you must have lots of experience!" I basically scream at him, hot tears on my cheeks rolling one after the other. I feel a strong arm wrap around my shoulder and look up and see Alex. "I'm sorry Lucas, but I think we should just stay friends. So I know your not just tryna get in my pants." I looks at him and spit those last words out. He looks torn, he just puts the box in his bag and walks into the school. I look up to Alex who's arm is still around me, and smile at him. We sit on the bench together and I just lightly cry into his chest. Once a lot of freshman start arriving I stand up and he stands up with me and says "Hey I'm here for you Elena, I'm glad you know the truth. Unlike him I would never want to hurt you in any way." I looked gratefully in his eyes, took his hand and walked inside the high school doors to conquer the rest of my day.
