"Charlotte..." Luke starts from where he's sitting next to me in the taxi.
"What! What is it?" My eyes widen when I feel him looking at my nose with wide, scared blue eyes.
"Bug!"
Before I can even comprehend what had happened, Luke was flicking my nose playfully, no bug in sight.
"You little brat!" I shout angrily, pounding on his chest many times.
Before I know it he's pulling my arms to my sides and pulling me into his lap, giggling slightly, and soon enough my anger evaporates into plain old giggles.
"You don't joke about bugs with me Lucas," I pout, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Oh yes I do!" He laughs, setting his chin atop my head like he always seems to do.
Luke then wraps his arms around me, me sitting in his lap.
I sigh contently, feeling just the right temperature inside with Luke's strong and warm arms drawn around my waist with a content ease.
I let my eyelids flutter shut, thinking of what a fun afternoon I had spent with Luke.
After the awkward incident at the coffee shop, Luke had gotten us both a drink and had brushed off the awkwardness like nothing had happened at all.
Which I supposed nothing too major did even happen.
I just overthought things, sometimes.
Well, more like all the time, but hey, who's really counting?
After the coffee place, we decided to go the fair, where I'd kicked Luke's ass at Ring Toss, and where he'd forced me to go on the Ferris Wheel with him.
I hate rides at carnivals and fairs, I've never liked them.
They're spinny, germy, annoying, and make me shudder just by the mere thought of a thing called 'The Zipper'
I mean, how does being trapped inside of a small metal compartment and then being forced upside down, up, down, and all around, harshly, sound fun?
It doesn't.
But thankfully he only made me ride the Ferris wheel with him, which I could tolerate somewhat.
Key word, somewhat.
After the torture, we'd gotten corn dogs on a stick, had walked around, and now ended up in the back of this taxi, me lying in his arms comfortably.
I feel his steady heartbeat beneath my shoulder, and it's comforting just to know that someone is there.
Someone's holding you, keeping you close to their heart.
"Luke?" I whisper quietly, not wanting to wake him if he had somehow fallen asleep with me on his lap.
"Yea, Charlo?" He says back, just as quietly as I had.
"Thanks for tonight, Luke. I had a lot of more fun than I thought I would."
"Hey that's offensive!" Luke giggles, swatting my elbow, but then just as quickly he pulls me back into his warm chest.
"It was a great night though, Charlo." he stated lowly.
