Chapter 11: a thing

It's Friday, and I'm finally off of work for the night.

Tonight is going to be very exciting because this is when me and Noah are going to begin our 'fake fling' you could call it.

Luke had invited me to another party, except this one was at someone else's mansion, not his own.

Noah agreed that he'd drive down to my apartment, and we'd make a few moves on each other at this party.

Only in front of Luke though, of course.

I really don't know if this idea was going to work or not. I mean, yeah it could definitely work to make people think me and Noah are dating.

We already have a very touchy, close relationship, but that's because of how long we've known each other and have been best friends.

It's just that other people don't know that about us, so a sane person would think we're dating.

Tonight we're going to make that happen, and I know we'll make it believable as can be.

The thing I'm not sure we can make happen is making Luke jealous.

I mean why would Luke be jealous of us?

He already is dating Lauren, so there is no way he'd be jealous of my and Noah's relationship.

Our fake one anyway.

So that's what I'm talking to Noah about this very minute, as I'm sitting on my vanity doing my makeup .

Noah's lying down flat on his back on my bed, staring at the plain cream-colored ceiling above him.

"I just don't think he'll be jealous, so I don't even know why we're really doing this, Noah." I stated, wrapping the curling wand around a long strand of my dark brown hair.

"Char, I already told you. Luke has thing for you. I can see it in his eyes! And what better way to make him more desperate for you then to make him a little jealous?" Noah says, lifting himself off his current position.

I bite my lip, still not fully convinced that Luke has a 'thing' for me.

I mean why would someone have a crush on someone who they'd just told a week ago that they were only to be friends?

Friends and nothing more.

"Noah, we've been through this the last time," I giggle hysterically at Noah's awkwardness.

Here we are yet again, all dolled up and standing very awkwardly in front of the door to the party.

Suddenly it swings open, and there stands a curly haired boy.

I recognize him as Ashton.

"Come on in, guys, this party is LIT." Ashton slurs drunkenly, giggling like a little boy.

I smile at his cuteness.

We're leaded in, passing a bunch of drunk people chatting, playing beer-pong, and making out.

You know, the usual party scene.

He leads us away to a room in the way back, and opens the white door with a poster of Superman taped on it sloppily.

In that room is a brown couch, with the boys sitting on it, very intensely focused on a video game above them on the television screen.

Beer cups litter the table where their feet also rest lazily.

Calum is sprawled out on the end of the couch, PS4 controller equipped in his hands.

Michael is next to him, head resting on Cal's shoulder.

And next to them, on the far right, is Luke, attention focused solely on the TV, Lauren lying basically half on top of him, legs nuzzled together sickeningly cozy.

When Ashton shouts, all four heads from the couch turn their attention to us, standing at the door-way awkwardly.

I see Luke look me up and down, and Noah must see that too, because he slings an arm around my waist, planting a kiss on my neck sloppily.

To which Luke glares at.

"Hm, this is gonna be fun if it really is making Luke jealous." I think to myself.

Ashton goes over to sit on the couch, and so does Noah.

Then I realize there's no more room for me to sit down, the couch already being crowded enough as it is.

Noah's eyes suddenly brighten, an idea forming in his head.

"Babe, just sit on my lap, why don't ya." He pats his lap, and I giggle flirtatiously, going over to sit on him.

He wraps his arms around me, and I cuddle into his warm chest.

"You two dating, I take it?" Cal asks and smirks at us.

I look to Luke, eager to see his expression, which is just as Noah had suspected.

Anger in his fiery blue eyes, a glare set on us intensely.

He looks deep in angry thoughts.

"Yep, have been for about a week now," Noah replies to Cal, giving me a cheeky grin

"OHMIGOD! You two are so adorable together!" Lauren says all bubbly, flapping her manicured hands around all over the place.

I can tell it's all a load of shit.

She's probably just happy, thinking I don't like Luke anymore.

Ha, how can she not realize that her boyfriend is practically shooting Noah hot laser beams with his intense gaze?

I kiss Noah's cheek, and Cal turns the video game back on.

Glancing nonchalantly back over at Luke, I realize he's staring at me, a simple sad expression on his face this time.

I give him a small little wave, and he turns his head, focusing back on the game.

He goes back to the game, and it's like he was never looking at me at all.
