"We can never go home, we no longer have one. I'll help you carry the load, I'll carry you in my arms. The kiss of the snow, the crescent moon above us. Our blood is cold and we're alone. But I'm alone with you."

SITTING IN DIVINATION on an April afternoon where the sun had finally come out, was not the way any student at Hogwarts wanted to be spending their day.

So as Alice sat across from Holland, she turned behind her towards a Slytherin girl named Daphne, making a bet.

"I'll bet you two Galleons that Professor Trelawney will say that there's something bad coming Harry's way." Daphne challenged.

"I'll bet you five Galleons she doesn't," Alice rose her eyebrows. Within ten minutes Trelawney had predicted Harry's future, making Alice groan.

She didn't bother to look back as she handed the girl five Galleons, frowning in the process.

"Finally, sunlight," Holland smiled as they took a seat on a bench in the courtyard.

Alice started doing her homework, wanting to get it out of the way, so she would have time to focus on the vanishing cabinet.

For the next hour the girls had finished their homework, helping each other with essays, they finally had time to talk.

"Did you get invited to Slughorn's party?" Holland asked the two girls, Cara shook her head while Alice nodded.

"I really don't want to go, but I already asked Draco so we kind of have to." Alice explained as the two girls nodded. Blaise had gotten invited and already discussed attending with Holland.

"Slughorn is just so overbearing, he always asks me about how my mums family discovered some artifact. So annoying."

Holland continued to complain to the two girls about Professor Slughorn and his boring class, until her eyes were quickly covered by Blaise's hand.

Soon after Alice's eyes were covered as well, "Guess who?" A voice whispered in her ear.

Laughing, Alice pretended to think for a  moment. "Hmm, the Dark Lord?"

Draco turned to her in disgust, "Bloody hell, Alice, don't scare me like that."

She laughed again bringing the lean boy towards her for a kiss.

Cara pretended to gag, saying something like, "I've never seen you two snog before, but I know I never want to again."

Rolling his eyes Draco leaned in giving Alice another kiss, holding her close for a few minutes to aggravate Cara.

Pulling away Draco sat on the bench pulling Alice on his lap, "Oi, Macmillan, what's going on between you and Goyle?"

Cara glared at the blonde headed boy, "None of your business, Malfoy."

Holding his hands up in defense, Draco shrugged, "Just curious. He's a good mate is all."

Cara rolled her eyes, "Sure."

She bid the two couples goodbye, leaving the courtyard, allowing Draco and Alice more time to catch up.

As they sat in silence, enjoying one another's presence a first year Slytherin hesitantly came up to the two.

"Uh, Alice Rowle?" The small boy asked as Alice nodded. "Professor Dumbledore would like to see you in his office."

Alice furrowed her eyebrows, looking at Draco. "Alright. I'll see you later?"

Draco nodded, squeezing her hand for reassurance, she left him.

As Alice walked into the headmasters office she couldn't help but feel nervous. Had she done something wrong? Had he known about the plan? She was so consumed in her thoughts she almost forgot to respond to Dumbledore asking if she'd like a sweet.

"No thank you, sir. A first year said you'd like to see me?" Dumbledore nodded taking a seat behind his desk.

"Ms. Rowle, over the past few months it's come to my attention that you and Mr. Malfoy have grown close, am I correct?"

She blushed, why was he asking her this? "Um, yes sir. Draco and I are together, is that a problem?"

Dumbledore laughed, waving her off, "No, no, not at all. It's actually very good indeed, you see, I fear Draco has become very isolated these past few months. Failing his classes, getting detentions, I ask of you too much..."

Alice furrowed her eyebrows, not following. "I'm sorry, Professor, I don't understand."

"You see, Alice, although you are a Slytherin there's a light in you that most others tend to be blinded by. I fear Draco is being led into the wrong direction, all I ask is you show him the light."

Alice swallowed the lump that had been stuck in her throat, nodding. "I- I'll try my best, sir."

Giving the girl a small smile, he dismissed her.

"Oh, and Ms. Rowle," He called as she opened the door to exit, "I know you won't fail me."

Nodding she left the man alone to himself.

It was as if he knew what was to happen and she didn't know how or why, but all she could do was feel sad.
