Growing Up and Stepping Down.

Aaron sat back in his chair in his office. He stared at the wall across from his desk as he thought about what he was going to do. He stopped staring at the wall only to look down at the paper work that he had gotten from Strauss earlier that day. 

Minutes later, he looked up from the paper work and turned to look out his window. He saw his wife of two years, making her way to his office. Seeing the time, he automatically knew what she was coming up to see him about. He grabbed the things that he need to take home with him and put them in his brief case. 

After an uneventful day because they had no case, just paper work , Emily was ready to go home. Smiling slightly as she made her way up to his office with her bag. She lightly knocked before opening the door. She smiled at him as she subconsciously placed her hand on her stomach that had been keeping their child safe for the last seventeen weeks. She said," You ready to go home? We are."

He nodded at her before he grabbed his brief case and stood up. He made his way over to her. He was going to take her bag from her but decided against it, since he didn't want to start a pointless argument on whether or not she should carry her bag because it would end her carrying her own bag.

She noticed the paper work that he left on his desk as they made their way out of his office. She knew exactly what the paper work was for but decided not to mention it until they got home and said good night to their kids. 

They said bye to Rossi as they headed out because he was last of the team still there for the day. He left soon after they did.

Soon enough, they had made it home. They had said good night to seven year old Jack and their three year old daughter, Lily. They were both in bed when she decided to bring up the paper work that was on his desk. She looked at him and said," I saw the paper work that you left on your desk, what were they for?"

He looked at her before he decided to just tell her about what he was thinking about doing. He said," Since our family is growing again, I was thinking about stepping down as Unit Chief. The kids are growing up and don't want to spend their whole childhood not being there. I talked to Strauss this morning and got the paper work."

Before he could continue, she interrupted him. She said," Babe, slow down. You tried to do the same thing when I was pregnant with Lily. And what happened last time?"

He said," You talked me out of it."

She smiled slightly and said," That's right. With you worried about the kids growing up and you missing it. You aren't missing anything, We're both there for every birthday, holiday, and day we have off. Besides Jack is in school for eight hours, five days a weeks and Lily is going to start school in the next year or so."

He nodded at her before she continued," Besides we kinda owe everything this job. Without it, we probably would never started dating or got married in Rossi's backyard two years ago. Also, I doubt Morgan would want to be unit chief, since Penelope is going to have their daughter any day now. Which means they would hire someone from outside, who would question everything that we did"

He watched her bring her hand down to her stomach, not realizing that she had just felt their baby kick for the first time. He nodded slightly and said," You're right."

He bent down slightly and kissed her lips before he continued," I'm not going to step down. I'll talk to Strauss when we get back to work. Tell her I've changed my mind about stepping down and then get rid of the paper work."

When he was done talking, she grabbed his hand and placed it on her stomach so he could feel their child move. She smiled at him and said," I know."

When she felt the kicking again with his hand on her stomach. She said," See? These little two think they have the best dad around."

After a moment, he realized that she said two and not one. He said," You're having twins?!"

She joked," No I'm having one baby with two heads."

She paused for a moment before she said," Yes, I'm having twins. The doctor called this morning while we were at work and I wanted to surprise you." 

He said," That's great. They're going to be so loved."

He smiled at her as he took his hand off her stomach. He bent down slightly one more and kissed her.
