Zane's PoV:
"Alpha?"
I heard a soft voice behind me and turned around to see lilia watching me intently from the door, her blue eyes looked like clear pools of water, like the lake in our territory. Her brown hair with blonde streaks flowing down her back with a few strands framing her face at the front, with her delicate features furrowed into an inquisitive frown.
"Yes beta lilia?" I spoke to her as if she was a small deer that I didn't want to frighten. We were as close as she was with her Luna, my katina, it was like we already had a daughter.
"I was wondering, as your anniversary with katina is in a few days, should I go to the lake and see what flowers are there? I haven't been in a while and I would hate for the flowers to die just before you give them to Luna katina."
She spoke in such a timid voice, as if she were afraid I would snap at her. Put her at ease. Sawyer, my wolf said. How exactly do you propose we do that? C'mon sawyer you know the girl. She is timid at times, she will be fine. Even though she wasn't my mate, sawyer cared for her and her wolf, we knew she became wary every so often, it was about the time when rogues killed the alpha of a neighbouring pack. Her sister had gone rogue when she found her mate. Even in rogue packs they have alphas, and her mate was the alpha and she wanted to go with him, so she did. However in the attack they launched on the Blackmoon waters pack, Lilias sister, Caroline had been killed by the alpha of the Blackmoon waters pack, xander, who was killed shortly after Caroline by her mate, Bradley.

"Errm, alpha zane? Are you alright? You've gone into a daze... Should I get the pack doctor to check over you alpha?" She was always concerned for the entire packs health, even though she was the beta and not the alpha or Luna, she always insisted that people go to the pack doctor, dr kennith, to be checked over at least once a year, which is why we are one of the strongest and healthiest packs in the world, or at least in all of Ireland.
"Alpha, I'm going to need an answer or I'm calling dr kennith." She said that with such finality and determination that I looked at her in shock. She isn't usually like this...
Must be grief over her sister that's making her snappy... Are you going to answer or do I need to? Sawyer was getting anxious then, he hated going to the doctor.
Yes I'm going to now sawyer.
"No, no, you don't need to called dr kennith I'm fine, I was just thinking about what to get katina." Damn lier. Pipe down sawyer. I was getting sick of his comments on everything lately.
" ok... So should I check on the lake flowers now alpha?"
"Yes beta lilia, that would be lovely thank you.
Could you bring Luna katina with you? She hasn't been in a while and I think she misses going."
"Yes alpha"
And with that she left the room, shutting the door gently behind her, as if there was a sleeping baby by the door and she was trying not to wake it. I can't wait for her to find her mate, it's not that I want her to leave, I just want her to be happy.

Sorry this chapter was short, I have a little writers block but I will keep writing the chapters and try post at least on a day, there may be an odd occasion where a few are posted but that just means I'm not too tired.
