Kagura awoke with the stretch of her sore arms. Damn it. I shouldn't have practised archery so vigorously last night. She slid off of her bed, hissing as the cool wooden floors met the skin of her feet.
It had been merely hours since the bewildering revelation of her old friend Sou occurred, turning out to be her newly-hired knight, Okita Sougo. Who, in all honesty, she is not fond of. He had the utterly annoying ability to bring out her old self, one that required many years to replace.
Shaking the memories off, she opened her bedroom door to find the devil himself standing tall and ostentatiously before her.
"What a repulsive expression you have there, Hime. Delighted to see me, I'll bet."
She slammed the door right on his sardonic face. She slid to the ground as she miserably groaned, her dainty fingers digging deep into her vermillion strands.
"Just how long were you standing out there, freak?!"
She yelled.
"Three hours, twenty-three minutes, and fifteen point fifty-five seconds,"
He lazily drawled before summoning an obnoxious loud yawn. His mockingly care-free tone made her want to break the very door atop his head.
"Hime, what's the plan for today? More sparring with Megane? Or perhaps straight to the kitchen to fulfill that endless appetite of yours?"
She could vividly see that contemptuous smirk in her mind. Regaining composure, she opened the door before coldly stating,
"I have to meet with the prince of Hiroshima today."
All amusement in his eyes dissipated as he fixed a serene look on her.
"For what reason?"
His voice was cold and sharp. He placed his arms above her to rest on the top of the door, undeniably trapping her beneath his much larger frame. His sinister shadow casted over her, crimson pools reduced to mere slits, shining dangerously in the morning hues of the tangerine sunrise. Unfazed, Kagura said,
"Gin-chan said I still have to search for the prince I am to marry. If he does not make the decision, I will."
He roughly clamped his top row of teeth down on his bottom lip, drawing blood. Unbeknownst to her. Quickly wiping away the beads of crimson, he calmly asked,
"When is the meeting, Hime?"
She stared at him quizzically, lolling her head to the side mockingly. Imitating his smirk, she cooed,
"Oho~? What's this? My little sadistic knight is concerned? You've fallen for my beguiling charms, I see."
As realization hit her, she sighed in hopeless defeat. Who cares at this point? It's Okita Sougo. You can be you around him.
"Beguiling charms? Oh my, Hime.. I see you're dreaming too hard because they've never existed."
Tch, but he does not even hesitate. Sadistic *sshole...
"Opposite Day has ended, my silly knight. Where was I? Right. We are going to this meeting on the intent of finding the supposed 'man of my dreams'. Behave yourself. This is an order. If you dare break it-"
"I've had enough of that lecture, Hime. Let's just get this over with,"
He remarked bitterly, proceeding to move into her bedroom. She halted him with the push of her hand causing him to stumble back several feet. Just a lick of the demonic strength she possessed.
"You're not allowed in here. I'm going to get dressed."
He scoffed, straightening his posture to stare down at her impatiently.
"Don't joke with me, Hime. I won't look. Besides, what's there to see with your lack of assets?"
She tilted her head in confusion.
"Lack of assets?"
He gestured to her chest and behind. (Which were inexcusably large)She shrugged,
"I don't mind that much. If you think I lack in such a category, feel free to watch me change."
He stiffened, clearly not receiving the reaction he desired.
"Don't be a retard please. Are you this lax with every male?"
Within her burst a feeling of triumph, enjoying the new emotions dancing on his face.
"No. But I am with my knight."
His eyes widened with shock. Taken aback by her words. Unable to contain her girlish mirth, she let out a laugh, confusion now on his features.
"The look on your face! For such a sadistic fellow, you are extremely naive. As if I'd let you look, dummy. I'm a princess. I have a changing area."
As she strode to the meticulously-designed dresser several maids walked in, taking the kimono out of her hands and bringing her out of the bedroom.
Sougo clicked his tongue as her steps echoed down the corridor. He leaned back on her velvet couch and hesitated before setting his feet on her table, crossing one leg over the other. Releasing a restless sigh, his eyelids fluttered shut. Subsequently, something grazed him beneath his leg and his eyes snapped open, tightly clutching the hilt of his sword to only be met with the beady eyes of a much too large dog. One of its bushy silver brows seemed to arch up as if to question his tenseness.
"Damn dog. Are you the 'Sadaharu' that Hime plays with?"
The dog barked, which to Sougo meant 'yes'. He roughly petted him before leaning his head back on the seat. Sadaharu jumped up on the sofa and rested its head on Sougo's lap.
"You tired? I'm not surprised. Eight years is a long time, old fart. Our neighbour's dog died at fifty-six. I doubt you will. Don't want to make Hime cry do you? I don't want to see that ugly sight again. So don't."
He peered down to see that the animal had fallen asleep. He smirked,
"You really are old. Beat me to the chase."
Not long after, he also fell asleep.
"Sadist. We have to go in an hour..."
She watched in surprise, her baffled gaze upon the two lasting for what seemed like an eternity. Sadaharu... Only ever was nice to me and my closest friends and family...
Her thoughts were abruptly put aside as Sougo shifted uncomfortably in his seat, Sadaharu doing the same not too long afterward. Kagura smiled and roughly pushed Sougo's shoes off of her table, not waking him or her pet. Quietly muttering in disbelief, she hoisted her knight over her shoulder with ease and held her dog in her arm to lay them down gently on her bed. She removed his shoes and neatly paired them directly beside her bed.
"Useless knight.."
She murmured before lying down on her velvet couch, drifting to sleep.

"..."
Kagura sat up, drowsiness still overtook her as the room became clear. She was in her bed, laying beside her was her beloved pet. Wasn't I on...?
"You're finally awake."
She rubbed her eyes and looked beside her, Sougo sitting there, her favourite book in one hand.
"S...Sadist?"
She asked, feeling more awake.
"I didn't know you read Murakami, Hime,"
He said, skimming though the pages of her precious 1Q84.(Random A/N: I'm going to pretend he existed back then. He writes some 'WTF' stuff.)
"Ah... Yeah. Grandma said I couldn't read those until I was this age, but I started to read them when I was eleven."
She had always taken pride by the fact she easily understood his vaguely-explained themes.
She smiled, memories of her over-confident self back then flickered momentarily in her mind, the overwhelming nostalgia she felt deep within the chasms of her heart nearly causing bitter tears to form in her cerulean eyes. How long...? She thought to herself, how long has it been since I've boasted about something so meaningless? How long has it been since I've snuck out of the castle, and ran through the endless fields of the varying shades of green? How long has it been since I said something outrageously inappropriate at the worst possible moments? How long has it been since I had true fun?
"You're in pretty deep thought over there, Hime. Dreaming about your beautiful knight?"
"Ah, yes, but I was sadly only to awaken and realize I have an ugly one."
He clicked his tongue irately and went silent and she looked at him in confusion at his lack of response. It was then that she noticed just how engrossed he is in the book. His crimson eyes scanning each page carefully, a look of pure disgust and bewilderment contorting his face from time to time.
"If you knew of the author, you should know he writes questionable things,"
Kagura said simply, leaning over the book to try and read the upside-down characters of the complicated kanji. She had always gotten headaches whenever she attempted this as a child. Wait- f*ck!
"Sadist, what about the meeting with the prince?!"
Sougo frowned and lowered the book to look at her,
"Look at the clock, stupid. Ten minutes have passed. We have a lot of time. You should check if you have any wrinkles in your kimono."
She begrudgingly complied, lifting herself off of the bed with a creak. She checked every edge of her silk kimono for any visible creases. Flattening the ones she found, she looked at him,
"Which part are you at?"
"A very... Disturbing part. It interests me that you like this kind of stuff, Hime."
She blushed redder than her hair and protested,
"I don't read it for that kind of purpose!!"
"Mhmm, sure."
He remarked sarcastically before flipping the page. She scowled at him and easily combed out her silky locks. There was a polite knock at the door and a maid walked in,
"Your highness, the prince is here."
Sougo blatantly grew stiff, an inexplicable expression etched on his face. They both straightened their postures and he saw the colour drain from her complexion as they grew nearer to the room the prince awaited in. Sougo opened the door for her stepping in himself afterward.
The man was no older than they, his hair was short and blonde, and his eyes were a hardened turquoise. He greeted them with a small smile, soon after standing up fully to gently take Kagura's smaller hand in his and plant a firm kiss on its pale skin.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Kagura. My name is Hisashi. The prince of Hiroshima," he slowly looked up to face Sougo, who stood menacingly over him. Is this man... Glaring at me? "Oh. You must be her new knight. Nice to meet you."
He held out his gloved hand to him, nearly shuddering under his chilling atmosphere. He took it, giving it one rough shake before dropping his hand carelessly. Kagura shook her head.
"Do not mind him, Hisashi-san. He's an antisocial knight." Ha! I laugh at my own statements.
The man nodded at her, an uneasy smile tugging at his lips. "Now... Let's begin the meeting."
