Mia's POV
"WAAAAAKKKEEE UUPPP!!!! I DON'T WANT TOO SAY IT AGAIN! YOU'VE ONLY GOT 30 MINUTES TO GET READY! NOW GET YOUR LAZY BUTT UP!" My older sister Abby screamed from downstairs. "I'M COMING NOW SHUT UP!! MOM NEVER SCREAMED AT ME!" As soon as I said that, I totally regretted it. Mom never screamed at me. Thinking about mom makes me cry. I heard Abby running up the stairs as i started to sob. "What's wrong?! Why are you crying?!" She asked. "Mom. That's why. Why do all the bad things happen to us? Why do we have to be the ones to live in misery?" I couldn't stop. The tears streamed down my face. Why do we have to be the ones to live in misery? It made me think more and more. I don't know what has come of me now. I was confused. I was scared. "Here. Let's just tell the school that we had some family issues, and I will tell them that we can't make it today. Is that okay?" I'm glad to have a sister like Abby. Yes, she does scream and yell, but she is also very caring. She knew what I went through with mom. She was there. We both saw it. "Yes. Thank you." I replied. She went downstairs, and I heard her ring the school. I got up out of bed, and got dressed. I walked into the bathroom, and calmed myself down. After a few minutes of cleaning up and getting ready, I heard Abby. "Yes, she is here." I wonder why they wanted to know that. "Mia! The school needs to talk to you." I went downstairs, and picked up the phone. "Good morning Miss Pritchett. May we ask a few questions?" I wondered why they wanted to ask questions. They never want to ask questions any other day we were out. "Uh.. Yeah. Sure." I was really confused. "It's just to make sure we are okay, and safe." I heard Abby whisper in my ear. "Now Miss Pritchett, is this family issue with your whole family, or just you and your sister?" "Uh.. I mean a few other people in our family knows. But not all. We rather keep it to ourselves." Abby shook her head. "Okay. Thank you." There was a long pause. It was silent. "Is your sister planning on leaving the house today?" How was I supposed to know that? I asked Abby the question. She said she just intended to leave for a little while to get some groceries and to fill up on gas. I repeated what Abby said into the phone. They said they said that, that was all, and they hope to see us tomorrow. "Can you explain to me why they asked me those questions?" Abby said they wanted to hear from me and that they need to know that stuff so they can file a report about why we are gone. I said okay and went back to my room. I was tired and just wanted to be alone.
