Be there in 5.

Jane's voice tried sounding reassuring but, I could tell she was worried. Who wouldn't be? I mean "The Dealer" has our book. Everything that would be incriminating is in the damn book. I feel stupid. It would be me they would steal from! God I’m such a-

"ANNABELLE YOUR FRIENDS ARE HERE!" Why does my mother always have to yell?

“Okay! Can you pretty please send them up?" I heard my voice tremble as I spoke. But since she doesn't give a crap about me or what seems to be going on she just yells up.

"FINE!" Then I heard a knock on the attic door.

"Come in...” It was hardly a whisper but they heard me.

"Annie! Babe what happened?"  Sarah knelt down beside me. You could say she was our mother figure in the group. I instantly relaxed a little. My "family" was here to help.  All of a sudden the girls formed the "circle" around me, ready to hear what happened.

On the phone I couldn't talk right. You know that feeling you get when you’re upset? Like if you continue talk you wouldn't be able to breathe? That’s how I felt, but now my girls surrounded me. J with her scowl, Renee with a small smile, Nicole playing with her many band bracelets, Jane with a comforting hand on my leg, and Sarah with her arm around me. I had the strength to tell them what had happened.

By the time I was done, the Girls were shocked. No one said a word. They had all read the note and I placed it where I originally found it.

"Please say something!" I begged them. Déjà vu hit me as those words unlocked a past memory.

Mommy, Daddy! It’s not my fault. Please say something?! I teared up at the memory but quickly shook it away. This was bigger than a haunting past memory. No this was dead serious.

"Where's this note?" J said breaking the tense silence around us.

"T-the window sill." I sniffled. Okay I feel like a complete baby.

"Annie?" I hear her voice become tense.

"Yeah?"

"It's gone."
