GEORGE

I followed Annie's mom to the kitchen. I seriously didn't want to  but at the same time.. I did. I wanted to hear her excuses. Her 'reasons' for allowing her older daughter to be abducted.

"Wait in the kitchen . I'll go see who's at the door."

"okay ."

As I made my way to the kitchen I heard her fake voice as I sat down in the kitchen.

A couple minutes later she came back.

"who was at the door?" I inquired.

"Oh one of the girls came and picked up Mel! Anyway.. Melanie and Garrett.." she started.

I automatically pushed my suspicions aside and leaned forward.

"Garrett ? I hadn't heard of Garrett .. Is that?"

"No Garrett isn't the father. That bastard doesn't know of him or Mel. But yes Garrett Mathews Hawk.." she fought back tears as she continued.

"Melanie's twin brother."

REGINA HAWK (ANNIE'S MOM)

I sighed as i walked out of the girls room. I knew without looking George was following. I knew he would. As we made our way to the kitchen to talk, the doorbell rang.

I wasn't going to lie, i was hoping it was Annie. We had never gotten along and when she came back from "The Incident" we fought even more. She was a fighter though. No matter what me or her father did, she did every thing the opposite. And it go ton my nerves.

"Head to the kitchen and we'll talk after i send whoever it is away."

George nodded and head towards the kitchen. I saw him for maybe the first time then. He looked worn down, and tired. I hope Annie was right, I hope this boy really loves her, if not... I shrugged off the thought as I opened the door with a smile and I voice I always use when i talk to people that don't live with.

"Oh Hello dear!" I started.

"Hey Mrs. Hawk! Can i borrow Mel?" This was one of the odd girls of Annie's group. I could never remember her name.

"Whatever for?" I said with a smile.

"Surprise for Annie!"

"Well then I guess.." I hesitated but turn around to see Mel already standing there. "Go ahead sweetie!"

I watched as Annie's friend pulled Mel away. I ignored the feeling it left in my abdomen and went into the kitchen.

"Who was at the door?" He asked briskly.

"Oh one of the girls came and picked up Mel! Anyway.. Melanie and Garrett.."

"Garret is that?"

"No," i shook my head fiercely, "bastard doesn't know about them.. Garrett Mathews Hawk, Malanie's twin brother.."

I looked out the kitchen window as I told the story.

"The summer before seventh grade for Annie, she acted different. She used to be so good, but she started to go against whatever me and her father said. Then one day she didn't come home. For months. We didn't call the police, we thought she was having a tantrum..." I took a deep breath and avoided looking into Georges eyes.

"Then she showed up on our doorstep only four months later. One look and you knew. I let her in. she started crying and her father came down. i couldn't help it. I told her how much of a dissapointment she's been. Not hat it was a secret. I had always dropped hints but this was it!" Suddenly, I was there.

*

"YOU LITTLE WHORE! WHAT WHERE YOU DOING? SELLING YOURSELF?" I screamed at the top of my lungs.

"Mommy, daddy.. it's not my fault.." Annabelle cried. She was so pathetic. Why was she crying? She was gone for four months and left us with out a not or anything.

"How is it not your fault? YOUR F*CKING PREGNANT!"

"Daddy.. he..he.." She gasped and sobbed and i felt my resolve fading slightly.

"Where where you Annabelle?"

"He..took..me.." She wailed.

Then, i was in the waiting room of the hospital. I was waiting for my granchildren. Grandmother at forty, i thought to myself. Annabelle had found out at the doctor last month she was carrying twins. TWINS!

She's been in there for hour, I thought to myself. She made her dad stay.. while i waited outside with Rose. I saw a doctor come into the room and I jumped up.

"May I see you for a minute Mrs. Hawk?"

"Of course.." I followed the nurse into the room where annie lay on the bed and her father sitting in a chiar close by.

"Where are my babies?" Annie begged looking at the nurse.

"Well, there was complications with the birth.. I'm sorry to say that your son was a still born."

"Son? I had a son?" She choked out.

"Yes, now, this is going to sound bad, but really it's for the best, twins would've bee to much for you to handle.."

"Where's my baby?!"

"We're going to need a name for the other child first, Annabelle."

"Yes, sure." She sobbed. "Garrett. Garrette Mathews."

The doctor made a note in her clipboard then pressed the intercome.

" Bring in the other baby please?" I sat next to the bed as the nurse came in carrying a pink blanket.

"I have a grand daughter?" I gasped. Annie took the baby in her arms and just stared at her. "Well what are you going to name her?"

"Melanie. Melanie Marie." She sighed drying her tears.

*

I returned to the present to find george sitting in front of me with his fist clenched.

"She- she didn't tell me about Garrett. This is all so much.. I need to make a call.." George ran his hand through his hair and read his phone as it beeped. He suddenly pushed away from the table and ran out the door.

ANNIE

"Woah woah woah CLIFFHANGER ANNES!! What happened?"

" Tell you later," I said getting in the truck.

CHECK YES JULIET, my ringtone screamed and i answered on the first ring.

"George?! Is everything okay?"

"I hate you. Don't ever talk to me agian you lieing stupid girl. I was playing you the whole time. I never wanted you. I wanted you for a rainy day when i got bored, and guess what? It's sunny now! Bye kid! " He laughed cruely.

"George, you don't mean.."

"Yep you fell for it! Man i thought you were suppose to be smart. I mean your already ugly. Aren't ugly people suppose to have something good going for them? Too bad you don't." Then the line went dead. Like a part of my heart. As i chucked my phone out the window, i leaned on jack and cried.
