A brand new door has opened for Saige and Alex. Alex got a job and is moving in with Saige and Jennifer.
The talk before the move:
"Are you sure this is what you want, my baby?"
"You know what? Yeah, it is, Mom. I have never been this sure in my life."
"Good." She smiles as she brushes some of his hair back from his eyes. "I told you everything will work out, honey."
"I know, Mom."
He hugs her tight. When he looks up, he sees tears falling from her eyes.
"Awe, Mom. Don't cry."
He begins to wipe the tears from her eyes.
"I'll still visit. This is just something I have to do. I have to be there for my daughter."
"I know. You're a man now."
"Thanks, Mom!"
They hold each other tight, but then it comes to the time where they have to let go. He gets in his car, waves goodbye and sets for his new home.
A month goes by and he is finally all settled in. He started to put the baby's room together in the room next to theirs.
"What shade of pink did you want, babe?" He asked Saige as he is looking through numerous pink pallets.
"I don't know! I didn't know there were so many pinks! There's like 50 of them here!"
He laughed.
"50 shades of Pink." snickered Alex.
"That's just perverted." laughed Saige.
"Okay, buy you walked into that one."
"I did." laughed Saige. "But I think we already did 50 shades of pink. Hello, baby!"
"Stop!"
Alex fell to floor, dying from laughter.
"It wasn't that funny!" chuckled Saige.
"Yes, it was."
They laugh a little bit and decide on a nice light color, which kind of resembled pink frosting. The whole room took 2 hours to paint, making sure they didn't miss anything and that everything was even.
It looked amazing.
Eventually, came the time where they went to eat dinner.
Dinner:
"How did the room turn out?" asked James. He is trying to be a father to Saige, which is nice. He concerns himself in everything she does. He even offers to help her with anything she needs.
"It turned out great. Thanks for asking."
"Anytime, dear."
Alex chimes in. "Yeah, it came out like a light pasty pink. Really gorgeous."
"Wow. That does sound nice. Do you need help with the crib?"
"I have the crib set up, but for the life of my I can't figure out the canopy, the rocking chair, the changing table, and the chase."
"Oh. I used to be a carpenter. If you would like, I could help you?"
"Yeah." smiled Saige.
"Awesome. Thanks, James."
"No problem."
After dinner, James and Alex finish off the things that needed to be done.
"That was refreshing!" claimed James.
"It was! I thought it would be a pain in the ass, but it was fine."
"Want a beer?"
"Uhm, I'm only 17."
"I forgot." laughed James.
A little while later Alex takes Saige to the amusement park. They ride the carousel like they did on their first date together.
"I love being pregnant, but I hate it when I can't sit on one of the horsies." laughed Saige.
"Yeah, but the bench is just as nice."
"True!"
"Saige." Alex paused and took a deep breath.
"What's wrong?"
"I love you. A lot. I think you are the most amazing, beautiful, and sweetest person I know. I am so incredibly lucky to have someone like you in my life."
"Awh, honey! That's so sweet." smiled Saige.
"Saige?"
"Yeah?"
Alex gets down on one knee. Emerged from his pocket, is a small red velvet box with an engagement ring inside. He grabs her hand and places a kiss on it ever so gently.
"Will you marry me?"
Saige is speechless. She thinks of every good thing they did together and remembers why she loves him so much.
"I never thought I would say this so soon, but yes! Yes I will marry you!"
"YES!"
He gets up and joins her on the bench where they sit in silence and stare at the ring.
For once, they are happy.
They get hypnotized together in a long, loving kiss. They look into each other's eyes and realize; this is home.
