Ainsley is at her locker when a tall senior walks up to her. The senior is Matt Kellogg. Yes, like the cereal. He plays for the basketball team. Matt is dark skinned with black hair that is always in style.
"We need to talk."
"What about, Matt?"
"I know you're pregnant. Why didn't you tell me?"
"Why would you care?"
"It's my baby, right?"
She stops for a minute and pulls him into the girls bathroom. She pushes him in the stall with her and locks the door.
"Just calm down. Yes, the baby is yours."
"Then why does everyone keep saying the baby's father is some junior named Alex?"
"Just go with it, okay?"
"No! If that is really my baby, I want to be involved!"
"Okay! It is your baby! I just need a little bit of time."
"What is your obsession with this guy anyway?"
She pauses.
"I-I don't know."
"Look. If that is my baby, you need to start telling people the truth. Alright? I will be a good father! I didn't have my father and I don't want you or anyone, to take that from my kid."
"Alright. I'm sorry."
They hug and then she sneaks him out of the bathroom.
"So, what is it?" asked Matt.
"What do you mean?"
"The gender? Boy or girl?"
"He's a boy." smiles Ainsley.
"I'm going to have a son?" asked a shocked Matt Kellogg.
"Yes."
That was the moment when Matt realized he was in love with Ainsley Spears. He has never felt this way before about anyone. Last year, he dated Jenna Greebs for the entire summer, but it wasn't anything serious. Not like this. This was love. He lifts Ainlsey's chin and looks her dead in the eyes.
"I love you, Ainsley Nicole Spears. I'm in love with you."
Suddenly, all of her feelings for Alex went away. She realized they weren't even feelings, just a temporary obsession that wasn't even for Alex. Ainsley never wanted Alex, she just wanted what he and Saige shared. A true romance, and now she has it.
"Please, don't say shit you don't mean."
She puts her head down, just to have Matt lift it up again.
"I would never do that."
He leans in with eyes shut, hoping that his lips would meet the lips of Ainsley. Ainsley closed her eyes and finally, their lips met. It was a kiss like never before. For Matt and Ainsley, sparks flew and butterflies fluttered. This was it. This was the type of things she saw on T.V. This is what she was looking for when she was messing around with Alex. Who knew the love of your life could be someone you would least expect?
The bell rings and they both open their eyes, prying themselves from the kiss. Matt leans his forehead against Ainsley's and grabs both of her hands.
"Can I walk you to class as your boyfriend?"
"Only if I can hold your hand as your girlfriend?"
Matt smiles.
"Deal."
They smile at each other, lock hands, and begin to walk to class. Everyone in the hallway sees! Ainsley, the school slut, and Matt, the school future success story, hand in hand, in love.
For the remainder of her pregnancy, Matt was right beside her. For the remainder of his basketball year, Ainsley was right beside him. School ended and Matt graduated, but he didn't leave her. He is waiting for her to give birth before he goes off to college, but it doesn't stop there. They worked out a plan that would best supply a better future for their family. Ainsley is going to get her GED in the summer, which means dropping out of school, and live on campus with Matt. He already got accepted into a university in California, on a basketball scholarship, and they already agreed to housing the three of them.
The university has high hopes for Matt. Matt has high hopes for Ainsley, Matt Jr, and himself.
