Speechless.
"Is he sure?" asked Alex, afraid to hear his mother's replied. Marcy was just as stunned as he was. She was too, at a loss for words.
"What are we going to do, mom?"
"Alex, you need to think more. That's where we are going to start!"
Alex walks over to the couch and just flops down. He throws both hands over his eyes and lets out a big HUFF.
"I'm going to take a shower. When I come back, I want you to have at least thought about your actions."
Marcy goes upstairs.
Alex is completely lost right now and that has never happened to him before. He sits up on the couch and reaches for the end table. Rummaging through the drawers, he grabs a piece of paper and a pen.
Pros and cons list.
Pros:
-The truth will set you free.
-Burden off of your shoulders.
-You will feel better in the end.
-Gets Ainsley the fuck off your back!!!!!!
Cons:
-Loose Saige forever.
-Loose Saige forever.
-Loose Saige forever.
-Loose Saige forever.
Out of anger, Alex crumbles up the list and throws it. He knows telling Saige the truth would be the right thing to do, but he doesn't want to risk hurting Saige. Would it hurt that bad if it were just a mistake? Could she possibly forgive him?
Would you?
He hears the water turn off from upstairs.
"Shit."
Alex just lays back on the couch and closes his eyes and drifts away into a deep sleep.
The next morning, he awakens on the couch. Hanging on the T.V, he sees a note left behind by his mother.
The note read:
"Went to the store. Go to school. Have fun. Tell the truth. Love, Mom."
Even though he really didn't want to do this, he knew he had to. He gets up from the couch and goes to get ready for school.
At school.
As soon as he walks through the door, he is welcomed by Ainsley, who is practically on top of his locker.
"Oh, come the fuck on, dude! Really?"
"Well, good morning to you too, handsome!" she said sarcastically.
"I'm getting really fucking sick and tired of you, Ainsley!"
Ainsley smirks and Alex can feel the rage boiling in his blood. He didn't know how to control it so, he punches his locker.
"What the fuck do I have to do to get you the fuck off of my back? Please, tell me!"
"Tell her the truth!"
"What truth?" came a voice behind him. It was soft. It was gentle. He turned around.
It was Saige.
Oh. My. God.
What just happened? Ainsley ratted him out! She had to of seen Saige behind him. She just had to!
.............
That's why she did it! Why does she want to ruin his life so bad? Why can't she just admit that he doesn't love her the way he loves Saige? Is it really that hard?
"What is she talking about, Alex?"
Saige is so confused. Suspicious, but confused. Alex can't even look at her. He can't look into those eyes. He can't, but he has to. Quickly, he mans up and takes a deep breath. He tries to say so much, but he just can't find the right words to say.
"We need to talk." That's it? That's all you can say? You cheated on this girl and all you can say is, "We need to talk"?
Really?
They walk to his car and go to his house. At a loss for words, he just sits there contemplating on the things to say.
"Alex, you're going to have to say something soon."
"I'm trying."
"Is it really that bad?"
"Yeah."
"Then just spit it out."
"Okay." he says as he takes a deep breath. He opens his mouth and a river of words just coming pouring out. He doesn't even know what he is saying. He doesn't even know if he is making sense. All he knows is, he is not ready to see her face.
"I was getting so hurt. I didn't know why you didn't want to sleep with me. I was scared. I thought I was doing something wrong. We should have waited. You were right. You're always right. And beautiful, amazing, and perfect. I'm so sorry."
He takes a minute to collect himself before continuing. Tears start falling from his eyes.
"I fucked up, Saige. Really bad. I slept with someone. Ainsley. On multiple occasions."
"Oh, wow." said a very angry Saige. She just up to leave and Alex jumps up right behind her.
"Saige, wait. That's not even the worse part. I mean, if I am going to tell the truth, then you deserve the whole truth."
"What else do you want me to hear, Alex? How you fell in love with her and you're now leaving me for her?"
"No! Never! It's so much worse."
She stares at him blankly.
"I got her pregnant."
Stunned.
Saige couldn't move for a brief second. She begins to walk away when Alex grabs her and turns her back to him.
"Saige, I'm sorry. We can work through this. I love you."
The things that Saige was about to say are the most terrifying words. She looked him the eyes. He released grip of her arm.
"I hate you."
Those were the last words Saige said to Alex.
Alex became so numb. He couldn't hear anything else happen around him. He didn't even hear the slam of the door. Those words just kept floating around his head and he couldn't get them out.
