A twenty-two year old pregnant woman was walking down the dimly lit street while fishing around through her purse.
" Hey, Hayley! Where are you going?" a feminine voice called after the woman. Hayley quickly turned around to see her best friend, Hanna Rey. She smirked towards her.
" Hanna Rey, I am a pregnant woman, who is in dire need to return home to her husband. Besides, shouldn't you be returning to your man of the week?" Hayley said to her when she approached.
" I'll have you know, Hayley Thomas, that I have respectable long term relationships." Hanna said.
" Please. I was at your apartment yesterday, and I saw pictures of men sprawled out over your living room table. You didn't even write their names on the back. You just wrote a day of the week. I swear, I saw one of the men in the pictures, and I yelled out, " Hey, Thursday!" Hayley barely got to quip back, before she fell into a fit of laughter.
" Whatever." Hanna giggled with an eye roll. The pair walked in comfortable silence. When they reached Hayley's car, they went their separate ways.
" See you later." Hanna called back to her.
" Yeah, bye." Hayley yelled. She was about to unlock her car, when she heard a noise coming from the never ending darkness. Hayley sped her pace to unlock her car, but the violent shaking of her hands were causing trouble. Another noise could be heard, but it was closer than before. Hayley finally opened the door, but it was slammed shut before her face. She tried to scream for help, but a rough hand covered her mouth, and a buff arm circled around her growing stomach.
" Well, well, well. What do we have here? It's quite the coincidence you showed up. I was starving." a rough low voice chuckled darkly. Before she could even blink, Hayley felt sharp teeth dig into her shoulder. The bloodcurdling scream that erupted from the pregnant woman's throat, would be heard for miles, if it wasn't being muffled.
" TEDDY! Wake up!" Mandy yelled, as she shook Teddy. Pure concern and worry shone in Mandy's eyes, as she couldn't calm her best friend. Teddy continued to thrash around wildly.
" TEDDY!" Mandy shouted louder. She was awakened by the shouts coming from the other side of the room, and she was determined to wake her best friend up. When her shout fell upon deaf ears, Mandy guided her hand to Teddy's face, and an audible slap bounced off the walls. Teddy's eyes flew open.
" What the hell?!" Teddy demanded. She lifted her handed to her stinging cheek. Mandy looked sheepish, but she didn't back away.
" You were screaming in your sleep, and I couldn't wake you up. So, I improvised." She said. Teddy knew by the look on Mandy's face, that she was desperately attempting to hold back her laughter. Teddy sighed.
" What do you want to do today." Mandy asked Teddy. Teddy knew Mandy wasn't going to push her into talking. She never did. Mandy knew Teddy like the back of her hand, and pushing her wouldn't lead to anything but a fight.
" I need to talk to my mother." Teddy said with irritation clear in her voice.
" Don't worry. I'll be there with you." Mandy said with a bright smile. She grabbed Teddy's hand, and gave it a squeeze. Butterflies immediately erupted in Tedd'y stomach. Stop it! She chastised herself. After the butterflies vanished, depression settled in its place. Get over yourself. It's never going to happen.
" N-no you won't. You are going to be somewhere else. Perhaps my sister's room. You've met her once or twice, and you both seem to have hit it off." Teddy thought back on the time she introduced Mandy to Vicky, Dustin, and James. Embarrassment couldn't cover how Teddy felt at her siblings' actions. Mandy seemed as though she read Teddy's thoughts, because she had a smirk planted on her face.
