" I knew it! I told you the lawyer was the killer." Teddy Thomas exclaimed. She and her dorm mate, Mandy Stevens, were watching an episode of Law & Order: SVU. The two friends were in Deanway College to become detectives.
" Yeah, yeah. You tell me at least fifty times a day, that you're going to be the best detective the world has ever seen." Mandy said, rolling her eyes. Teddy just stuck her tongue out at her.
" Real mature for a twenty year old, Teddy." Mandy sighed. The truth was, she was used to Teddy's antics, and she liked that about her. Teddy just smiled at her friend. They have been dorm mates and friends, for two years, and Teddy had developed strong feelings for her blonde haired friend. How could she not? Teddy stared at Mandy for a second. She looked at Mandy's long flowing blonde hair. It made Teddy want to run her fingers through it. Next, Teddy examined Mandy's eyes. They were a piercing, beautiful blue pair of eyes. They held so much emotion. Teddy inspected her skin. It was smooth and porcelain. Overall, Teddy loved Mandy's complexion.
" Do I have something on my face?" Mandy asked. Teddy snapped out of her thoughts when she realized she was still staring. Shit. She thought.
" Yeah, you had something, but it's gone now." Teddy lied dismissively. Mandy seemed to buy it though. Although Teddy was in love with Mandy, she had yet to reveal her feelings to her. Their friendship was too important to Teddy, and rejection would just ruin everything. Teddy excused herself, and walked to the bathroom. Once she was in there, she looked at her reflection in the mirror.
Teddy had long, slightly curled, dirty blonde hair. Her eyes were hazel, and she had a slight tan to her skin. She was the perfect clone of her mother, Hayley Thomas, but she was taller. She got her height from her father, Danny Thomas. Teddy smiled at the thought of her family. She had a loving mother and father, an annoying, but cool sister, and pain in the ass brothers. Their family put the fun in dysfunctional, and they wouldn't change it for anything. After giving herself one last glance over, she exited the bathroom.
" What do you want to do now?" Mandy asked. Teddy sat down on her bed. It was a Tuesday, so they had classes the next day. She looked at the clock. 12:30. It read. They didn't have morning classes, so they had about an hour until they had to lie down.
" What is there to do that only takes an hour?" Teddy asked. Whatever Mandy wanted to do, Teddy was all for it. Mandy had a deep concentration look on her face. After some time, her eyes lit up with delight.
" Let's go for a walk." Mandy exclaimed. Teddy sighed. She knew Mandy was going to pick something that involved physical activity. Teddy and Mandy were the exact opposite. Teddy was a tomboy. Mandy was a girly girl. Teddy loved dark colors, and Mandy loved light colors like pink. Teddy was the type of person who liked to sit still, while Mandy preferred to move around. Something they could both agree on, was animals. They loved animals.
" Fine let's go, but no later than one-thirty. We have classes tomorrow afternoon." Teddy caved. Mandy started jumping up and down slightly. Teddy chuckled at the sight. They grabbed their coats, and exited the dorm. They were walking down the road, when they hear a noise. They stopped abruptly. The street lamps were on, so they had light to look around.
" What was that noise?" Mandy asked, clinging to Teddy's arm. Teddy pushed Mandy behind her. There was another, more closer, sharp noise. The volume of the noise caused both of the women to jump. They stayed under the street lamp.
" Stay behind me." Teddy ordered. Before Mandy could answer, a voice beat her to it.
" No need Mandy." the voice said from the shadows. Mandy started to shake from fear. Teddy reached a hand behind herself, and placed it on Mandy's arm to calm her down. It worked slightly.
" How do you know her name?" Teddy asked snidely. The masculine voice chuckled. She was getting agitated. Who the hell is this guy? Teddy thought. The owner of the voice stepped into the light. Teddy and Mandy gasped. The man had a white hooded cloak with the hood covering his face. He had sharp shoulder armor, and had a sword in his hand, but that wasn't what caught their eye.
" You have wings!" Mandy pointed out with wonder mixed with fear. The mysterious man chuckled at the obvious. Teddy was still on high alert.
" Who or what are you?" Teddy asked, eyeing the cloaked man suspiciously. Her grip on Mandy's arm tightened. She was trying to form a plan to at least get Mandy out alive.
" I'm not here to kill you. On the contrary, I'm here to protect you." he said in a serious tone. Teddy has learned enough to know that the man wasn't lying.
" You didn't answer my question. I didn't ask why you are here, I asked who or what are you?" Teddy asked. She had an edge in her voice. She was getting tired of that damn man and the way he was avoiding questions. The man looked Teddy right in the eye. He had a determined look on his face.
" My name is Roman. I am your guardian angel." Roman answered with such seriousness, that it shook Teddy to the very core.
