Jayson smiled sadly. Today was the day he could finally take his daughter home for the first time. He looked over at the empty bed that his wife laid on when June was born. A few tears escaped his eyes.

Sarah had died the previous night while asleep. Jayson packed everything that had been brought to him from the Doctors for his daughter. He left the room with June in a car seat and left the building.

He unlocked the car and put June in the back seat before putting all of the stuff next to her. He closed the door and started the car. He was going home with his daughter.

He looked over to the passenger seat, expecting a kiss but then realized why he never got one. Sarah was dead. Sighing, Jayson drove out of the parking lot.

Halfway home, his daughter started crying. Jayson pulled over and went to the back seat to make her a bottle. Halfway through this process, he got a phone call. He answered it as he continued making the bottle.

"Hello, is this Jayson Harth?", a female asked.

"Yes.", Jayson responded.

"I have information regarding your wife's passing.", the female stated, Jayson sighed and gave the bottle to June.

"What do you know?", Jayson asked eventually.

"Your wife had stage 2 lung cancer and stage 4 brain cancer. Both of these caused her to die. I'm sorry, sir.", the female stated.

"Thanks for letting me know.", Jayson said and hung up, "Well, June. Mommy died from cancer. Not the best thing to hear when your so young, is it?"

June just looked at her father as she drank the bottle. Her innocent brown eyes staring into his blue ones. Jayson smiled at her when she finished. He picked her up and gave her gentle pats on the back.

When June let out a small burp, Jayson put her back into her car seat, buckled her back up, and continued driving. They arrived home and Jayson walked inside with his hands full.

A golden retriever puppy, a black labra doodle puppy, and a German shepherd puppy met them at the door. All jumped around happily. Jayson set June down and the puppies immediately went to meet her.

As the puppies sniffed June, Jayson went to the kitchen and put soft dog food in a dish for all the puppies. They came running when they smelt it.

A cry from the living room made Jayson stand up and speed-walk to his daughter. He held a bottle to her and she fell asleep when it was halfway gone. Jayson sighed, relieved that she was asleep and closed his eyes to get some rest himself.
