When I was six and Sicheng was seven, I had to leave China and move to America. Today was my last day with Sicheng. We were friends ever since I was one and he was two. We grew up together. We would do everything together. I didn't really tell him about me moving yet. Since today's my last day with him, I decided to tell him when I was about to leave. The sun was going down, Sicheng and I were playing in the creek behind his house.
"Sicheng," I said while playing with a blue flower that I found. He hummed in response. "I need to tell you something." I said then picked up the blue flower.
"What is it?" He asked.
"I'm moving." I said then looked at Sicheng. He looked at me in shock.
"To where? Are you still going to be in China?" He asked. I shook my head slowly.
"I'm moving to America." I said then looked down at the flower that I had in my hand.
"Why?" He asked. His eyes were starting to tear up. I shrugged my shoulders.
"I don't know." I said then looked back up him. "Don't be upset, we can still talk to each other, we can video chat everyday." I said
"EunA! Come on, we have to go!" My mother shouted.
"I'll be there in a couple seconds!" I shouted then looked at Sicheng again.
"When are you leaving?" He asked.
"I'm leaving tomorrow." I said.
"EunA!" My mother shouted.
"Coming!" I shouted. I hugged Sicheng then handed him the blue flower. "I have to go. Don't forget me, okay?" I asked while hugging him tightly. Hr nodded his head slowly. I released him and waved goodbye. I ran over to my mother. I said goodbye to Sicheng's parents then went into my parent's car. While we were driving past the creek, I saw Sicheng sitting near the creek crying while holding onto the flower I gave him. I couldn't help but tear up at the sight of him crying alone.
Once I got back home, I took a shower and ate dinner. My parents made me sleep early because we are leaving early in the morning I couldn't sleep because I kept on thinking about Sicheng. I looked out the window and at the moon. I'm sorry, Sicheng, please don't forget me. I thought to myself then closed my eyes and went to sleep. The next morning, I woke up really early and got ready to go to the airport. I was holding onto a bunny plushie that Sicheng gave to me and my mother's hand, waiting for our plane to come.
"EunA." I heard someone saying. I turned around and saw Sicheng with his parents. I let go of my mother's hand, making her look at me, and ran over to Sicheng without the bunny plushie. Without thinking or saying anything, I hugged him tightly. "I'm going to miss you." Sicheng said quietly.
"Me too." I said then buried my face into the crook of his neck.
"Please board flight KE0214, Korea to America." (I made up the numbers and letters and it turns out to be an actual flight from America to Korea. I'm for some reason proud of myself.)
"Come on, EunA, we have to go." My father said. I looked behind me and saw my father holding the bunny plushie. I looked back att Sicheng, without thinking, I kissed his cheek.
"Bye Sicheng, don't forget me." I said then walked back to my parents. My parents looked at Sicheng's parents and said goodbye. I looked at Sicheng one last time before turning around and boarding the plane. Once we found our seat, I sat near the window.
Meanwhile In The Airport
Sicheng was near the window looking at the plane that EunA got on.
"Mommy," Sicheng said then looked up at her. Sicheng's mother looked down at him.
"Yes?" She asked.
"Will I see her again?" Sicheng asked then looked back at the plane. The plane was slowly starting to move.
"Don't worry, sweetie, you'll see her everyday. Me and EunA's mom set up something for you guys so you two can video chat every day." Sicheng's mother said while smiling.
"I know but will I ever see her in real life, again?" Sicheng asked. Sicheng's mother was quiet for a couple seconds.
"I don't know. I hope you two will see each other again." She said then looked at her phone. "Come on, Sicheng, daddy's waiting for us." She said then picked Sicheng up. While Sicheng's mother was making her way out the door, Sicheng's eyes were still on the plane that EunA was on. If we're lucky, we'll see each other again. Sicheng thought to himself.
For the first year of being apart from each other, went well, I guess. Everyday we would video chat with each other until school started. Since I was half away across the world, there was at least a twelve hour difference. Every time when I wanted to video chat with him, he was asleep. When he wanted to video chat with me, I was asleep. We tried staying up late but it didn't work out well. We ended up falling asleep on our desk. Slowly we stopped video chatting each other and slowly we started to forget each other.
