Chapter 5

“Where you been last night Johnny? I was calling you all night" Cathlin asked while we were at lunch. In her tone, I can see she’s really annoyed.

“Uhm sorry Cath, just very upset, I’m thinking of joining drama club just to have extra points so I can play for this season" Of course I’m not. Actually I was the total opposite of upset. Auditioning for drama club is the best thing happen since highschool.

“That’s lame man, but you know, we're here for you. You do anything you need to do ok? Just come up with those freaking extra points so you can play man, you need you!" Pete says, Thanks for the pressure MAAN!

“I need you too Johnny, Its like I don't have my babe anymore"

“C’mon Cath! Give my bro a break. He's in lot of stress right now"

“Really Pete? So what's your bro looking at now? Hey Johnny? Are you even listening to us?!"

“Huh,  what? wait guys I need to go."

" Where are you going?!"

" I need to catch Ana. Hey Ana!"

Just like that. I rush over to Ana. I’m not thinking anymore for sure. Maybe these guys was wondering why I run over to Ana. I just don’t care anymore. I’m really excited to see her.

"Ana?! Whose that freak show?!"

“She’s the new Spanky, well minus the bullying. You can't bully Ana or Johnny will be mad. Haha."

‘Really Pete?"

After lunch, I and Ana practice our number for the audition at the school garden. In that one perfect tree, no one can noticed you, and you just have that full view of the whole neighborhood, the setting was perfect, Every time the wind blew Ana's hair on her face, I’m the one who will get her hair off her face and she will just smile at me. On our practice, I discovered Ana can sing too.

“Maybe that's enough practice and singing, what if, you tell me about yourself."

“Well, what do you want to know?"

"As the matter of fact, if I can just know everything about you, I won't mind you talk all day."

“Haha! That's new, a man who will not get irritated at a girl who will talk all day."

“Well you know I grew up with my mom so, i'm kinda used of girls talking all day."

" Uhm one thing about me, Dad was the one who taught me how to play the piano and to sing."

" Wow! Well my dad was the one who taught me to play football."

“I miss dad, sometimes I just sing so I won't miss him that much."

When Ana's talking about her dad, I can see the sadness on her eyes, i want to hug her. But how? Just like that, what's my excuse?

" Ya know Ana, I miss my dad too, between mom and dad, I was really close to him. So when the divorces happen. I was really devastated, i wanna see dad all the time, but i can’t leave mom just like that, she needs me too. But I don't want them together also, cause they fight all the time."

" I was never close to mom, I don't know Johnny, I just . . .  really really miss my dad"

And Ana cried, and I hugged her, really tight, like I thought if I hug her, the pain she's feeling will go away, but of course it doesn't work that way.

" Thank you for singing with me Johnny. When you sing at me, it feels like my dad was singing with me also. Thank you so much."

Ana didn't know that I was the one who should be thankful of her. Just her presence makes me happy. Maybe because I like like like her.
