I stretched my muscles from the slumber it had experienced before sitting up tiredly. To my surprise, I had slept quite well. Not having much trouble.
Nevertheless, once I awoke, I cringed at the sound of the rain falling against my window pane.
As I walked down the stairs, tying my hair in a ponytail and pulling on my long jersey.
Due to my task, I bumped my elbow against the entrance of the of the kitchen. I winced in pain, glaring halfway at the wall and my father who snickered a bit.
"Morning Kathleen."My mom's voice greeted, sounding way too cheerful for a rainy Sunday morning.
I replied with a mumble, snatching a bacon off on of the unattended plates. This earned a slap on my hand from my mother and I winced once again.
I gave Toby a smile, who came barreling into the kitchen with excitement.
The door bell rang cutting off my dad's next words.
"That's Parker!"Toby yelled, jogging happily away.
My mom immediately ran off after him, screaming his name.
"Where did you run off to yesterday?"My father asks once we were left alone.
I gave him a confused look, trying to make sense of his question.
"You excused yourself and then walked away but you never went to the loo."He explains.
Damn. Caught out.
I scoffed quietly at the fact that he was still being an Englishman at heart by using loo.
"I thought I'd recognised someone."I shrugged.
"Who?"
"Father."I said quietly and quite pleadingly too."I don't want to get into the factual information."
He sighed but remained silent. I mentally thanked the star's that he wouldn't press on about the matter.
"Good morning Mr.Layne."A familiar voice greeted with a chirp.
I turned toward the kitchen entrance, my back now leaning against the counter. I noticed from my peripheral vision my dad smiled.
"Oh good morning Camden."Dad says with a bright smile.
Camden stood next to me so that he was closer to my father.
"Since when are the two of you so buddy buddy?"Even though I asked something, the pair completely ignored me.
"How are you doing today Mr.Layne?"
"I'm doing good on this fine morning."My father replied.
"It's raining."I deadpanned.
"It doesn't matter. "He shrugged.
I rolled my eyes at the childish nature of my father. He might be a fine Englishman but he was still a child at heart.
"And a good morning to you too Kitten. "Camden smirks.
"Oh yeah. What a fucking good morning."I replied sarcastically letting the cuss word slip accidently.
My father gave me a look of disappointment as he shook his head.
"And let go of that nickname."I said after a while."It's not working out."
"I believe that it suits you well."Camden shrugs.
I couldn't help but snort."How so?"
"I don't know."He shrugs again."It just does."
