After we returned home, Camden excused himself because of his girlfriend. I didn't exactly mind since I wanted to be alone. And by alone I meant, sitting in my room with my sketch pad and music blasting loudly in my ears.It had been exactly an hour after that when I noticed someone had entered my room. I stared at my mother wide eyes not really registering the fact that she was trying to get me to speak to her.
Her mouth moved but no sound travelled. I tugged the wire of the earphones and gave my mother and apologetic gaze. She sighed realising I heard none of what she said.
"I'm surprised you're not out with Camden."She states and her shock is visible.
"It's raining outside."That was the second time today I had to point that out to someone.
"That does not mean you can't have fun inside."
"He has a girlfriend mother."I deadpanned.
I have no idea why I felt the need to point that out.
"That's good."She nods.
Of course it's good.
Apparently it's always good for someone I get close to to have someone who they care about.
I wanted to question my mother further but knew that if I did, it would only end up in a pointless dispute.
"I came to speak to you about tomorrow."She answers my other unasked question.
"Which is?"I trailed off.
"Monday."She states in an obvious tone.
"Oh great!"I replied with mock happiness."What a wonderful day to speak about! What is to happen on this fine day?!"
I knew I was pushing my mother's limit when I used sarcasm but I just couldn't help it.
"It's school, Kathleen."
And she couldn't have said that earlier?
"Your father thought it would be best if you all start school immediately."She explains."That way you wouldn't miss out any more than you have already."
You know. One would thibk that because we're constantly on the move we wouldn't be attending any school as we're just constantly wasting money. But no my father is always the one who thinks it's best to rather waste money on schools each time than not studying. Besides education is the key to success. His words, not mine.
Something in her hand caught my attention. Immediately I began to eye the package.
It's amazing how you don't notice things until afterwards.
"What's this?"I cautiously poked the package now laying on my bed.
I poked it with such caution as though some monster was going to jump out at any time and eat me alive.
"It's your school uniform."She states.
I was right. It is a monster.
"Don't be so quick to judge it."My mother points out as I opened it up.
"It's just a shirt with a logo on it."I said dryly."where's the rest?"
A book came flying towards me but ended up losing gravity as it landed in front of my legs.
"Are am I attending some perve school like those books Betty always used to read?"I asked."What was it called again?"
My thoughts were interrupted when my mother scolded.
