The jewel of my house is the most precious of all in the land
She is a ruby at the lips and a sapphire at the eyes
Her skin is smooth as mother of pearl and bright as opal
Her conversion is of diamond and cut from a strong carrot
There is always a sparkle in her eye and a smoothness to her dress
Gold could not buy such heritage and I would not try
When I had a jewel so stunning before me
I glance over my newspaper with an inward smile
No gentleman reveals his affections so lightly as that
But my wife is the jewel in my crowd running the house behind the scenes
While I attend to business and the lands I rent
She is a beautiful crystal and will give me a diamond heir
