Jarrod's POV

My biggest regret about moving to Lincoln Academic Academy was that I was leaving my girlfriend of two years, Kaytlyn Roberts. A friend on my football team had told me that there weren't any hot girls at Lincoln, either, so there was no chance of replacing Kaytlyn.

My first day at Lincoln, I woke up early and threw on some random clothes. I never put much effort into my appearance, but according to the girls, I was still hot. So I wasn't too worried about what I looked like on the first day of school.

I took the bus to school, and the instant I stepped down the steps, I was attacked by a dark-haired girl.

"OMG!" she squealed. "Are you the new student? You're SO hot. Let me show you around!"

She was cute, I guess, in a plain sort of way. Her lips were too pouty and her clothing too revealing but basic at the same time for my liking. Not my first pick. But who was I to refuse a friend? So I let her take my hand and pull me into the building.

But right as we passed through the double doors, I turned my head and saw a girl approaching. She was stunning, way hotter than the girl who was still holding my hand. I realized that I didn't even know that girl's name. The girl approaching had long shimmering blond hair and the most amazing blue eyes that I'd ever seen. She was much better that Kaytlyn. I eyed her appreciatively as she stuck out her hand and fluttered her eyelashes. "Hi, I'm Shaylene," she said.

I smiled. "My name's Jarrod. Jarrod Edwards. It's lovely to meet you."

The girl next to me, who I'd already started to lose interest in, made some stupid comment about how Shaylene was unpopular, and then a passing boy leapt to her aid. As soon as I could safely get away from the girl next to me, I let go of her hand and asked, "Is that true?" I hadn't heard the conversation, but that was always a safe bet.

Shaylene smiled at me. Wow, she looked so hot. I really wanted to ask her out right then, but I decided to play it cool and say, "In that case, I think you can show me around, Shaylene."

We walked down the main hallway holding hands. Shaylene showed me her locker and some of the classrooms, but I didn't really care. I could always force one of the stupid nerds to show me to class. They were so jealous of me, they would do anything. Like that boy Jack Dorado, on my football team. He thinks he's so cool, but I'm really the only good player on my team. Suddenly a lady that looked exactly like Shaylene, but older and uglier, walked towards us. Shaylene let go of my hand. I stared down in shock. No girl would ever willingly let go of me like that! Maybe she wasn't the girl for me after all.

Shaylene was staring at the woman in shock. I would look like that too, if I'd seen someone that ugly for the first time. But that was kind of weird, because they looked so alike. Shaylene was much hotter, though.

"Mom!" Shaylene said, sounding surprised. I was even more surprised. They were related?! I really hoped that Shaylene wouldn't ever look like that, especially if we were going to get married. Also, this would make family visits a pain and I could never post any family pictures on social media.

"What are you doing here?" she asked.

"Haven't you heard?" asked the horror that gave birth to my hot soon-to-be girlfriend. "I'm your new principal."

I almost threw up. Imagine looking at her every day! Well, that was what Shaylene had to go through. Knowing how strong she had to be to endure that, made me love her even more.

"Also, honey bunches, you'd better be in the auditorium soon. The assembly is about to start. Oh, who's this cutie?" she asked, winking at me.

Shaylene blushed. That was so hot! "I'm just showing him around. He's new. Also, don't call me that, Mom!"

"Remember the no dating rule, sweetie," her mom said, before hurrying off.

Shaylene had a no dating rule? That would ruin all my plans! I turned towards her. "You're not aloud to date?"

Her eyes shone with tears. "Yeah, not until I'm in high school. It's so stupid and unfair!"

I smiled at her, the smile that made men jealous and girls faint. "Well, I'm a rule breaker."

Then I leaned forward and kissed her. She relaxed into my arms and I pulled her closer. It wasn't my first kiss by far, but it was my best. We pulled away from each other and she smiled. Ugh, she was so cute. "Be my girlfriend?" I asked, and she kissed me again as an answer.

"We'd better go to assembly," she said, and we hurried down the hall. When we got there, the assembly was already going, so we decided to sneak in. Quietly, we opened the door, but there was a banana peel in front of it that neither of us saw. Who knew! Shaylene set her foot on it and immediately slipped, falling to the ground. I dropped to my knees next to her. "Babe, are you okay?" I yelled, trying to be as quiet as I could.

The entire auditorium turned towards us and her mom, the principal, said, "Shaylene Abigayle Johnson! We will talk about this when you get home tonight! Sit down this instant!"

I helped her to her seat. She was limping. I hope she wasn't hurt anywhere that would ruin her beauty. As we sat down, I heard whispers flying through the crowd. Oh no! Was Shaylene really not popular? The only people who had told me that she was popular were Shaylene herself and a desperate ex of her's. What if I was dating the least popular girl in school? What would that do to my reputation? I let go of her hand quickly and turned to my neighbor, a boy who was nowhere near as hot as me.

"Is Shaylene popular?" I asked.

The boy nodded. "She's the cutest and most popular girl in school. All of us boys, and some girls too, wish they could date her."

I glared at him, relieved. "Well, too bad. She's mine now."

Despite the fact that Kaytlyn was not at my school, it was going to be a good year after all. I already had a hot girlfriend. What else did I need?
