Josh's POV

On Monday morning, I woke up still groggy from our football game on Saturday. It was an awesome game and Jarrod played super well. He's the best player on our team and not only is he a football star, but he's SO hot.

Yes, I'm gay. It's no news, I've known since I was six years old. It can be rough sometimes, but I think Jarrod actually returns my feelings.

Anyway, I showed up to school and it was hectic. But before I got there, I had an encounter with the weird upstairs girl. I don't even know her name, it's like Shayla or something. But our parents are friends, so I have to be nice to her. When she saw me, she started blinking her eyes really strangely. I think she was trying to impress me. She pulled her straps on her training bra to make me jealous. Then, as she walked away, she swayed her non-existent hips and looked back at me, swishing her hair. The jokes on her, though. All her boyfriends are hotter than her.

When I got to school, she was staring at me, until suddenly her gaze slipped by me and her jaw dropped. I turned around to see what she was looking at, and my jaw dropped too. What was Jarrod doing here? Could it be? Is he going to the same school as me? My heart leaped. We could build a life together! I started to walk towards him, but then I noticed him holding the hand of a girl. It was my weird neighbor's best friend! My heart sank.

Maybe Jarrod wasn't actually into me! Was I fooling myself? I ran to the bathroom and cried.

I cleaned myself up, and ran to the auditorium for the presentation. I saw that stupid pleaser girl slip on a banana peel and laughed in spite of myself. But then Jarrod shrieked and helped her up. (How beautiful.) He was SUCH a hero and a SUPER DUPER SUPER heart-throb. But why was he hanging out with Shayla? Gross. What a biotch.

The principal was giving that stupid presentation,  when suddenly I recognized her at Shayla's mom and my neighbor. I threw up a little in my mouth and shook my head. I jumped up and ran to the bathroom.

That's why Jarrod was dating her. He wanted to be on good terms with the principal. Now I understood. I still had a chance, I just needed fate to give me an opportunity to sweep him off his feet.
