"Oh, oh, my toxic valentine."

Colby exited the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, with intentions of heading straight to the hotel. The main event had ended seconds ago, and he had left almost immediately, so that he wouldn't be bombarded by fans.

He was now in the parking lot, hands in his jacket pockets as he headed to his car. Once he was near enough, he grabbed his keys and began fumbling around, trying to unlock it.

"Hey."

Normally, Colby would've ignored someone yelling out at him, continuing to unlock the car. This voice sounded vaguely familiar, though, like he knew this person. Until he saw them, he wouldn't be able to remember the name.

When he turned around, it wasn't hard to find the source of the voice, as the parking lot was devoid of people except for him and a security guard who would probably start directing traffic soon.

Colby frowned when he realized who it was: David, Carrie's brother.

They had only spoken that one time at Toxic Valentine's concert, and Colby had assumed that would be the only time he would see him. He was obviously wrong, though, because here he was, standing only a few feet away in a Samoa Joe shirt.

"Hi?" Colby finally responded, although it came out sounding like a question, like he didn't recognize the guy in front of him. He coughed, deciding to try again. "Um, yeah. Hey. David, right?"

He nodded. "Yeah. I didn't expect to see you here." He paused. "Because of the injury, I mean."

"It's healing up nicely," Colby said, instinctively looking down at his knee. "You should see me back in the ring soon."

It was silent. It looked like David was toying with the idea of something, but Colby didn't know what. He finally spoke up.

"Carrie was going to come with me," David said, and Colby frowned. "But she didn't, because of you. She would've loved hearing her song playing in an arena with so many people."

"I – "

"She bought tickets for tonight," He interrupted. "And she bought tickets for WrestleMania, which she isn't going to, either. She was afraid she might run into you. Carrie normally faces her problems head on, but this time, she isn't. If you were anyone else, she would be here. She wouldn't be hiding. That song that they picked for the Takeover theme? It's about you. You obviously mean something to her if she's writing songs about you. And the fact that you're not fighting for her...

"I usually don't fight Carrie's battles for her, because she can take care of herself," He continued. "But I know she's not going to do a damn thing, which means that I have to step in. I know how you feel about her, and I know how she feels about you. She thinks that you don't care anymore, which is why she hasn't done anything. So, even if you don't care, let her know. I hate seeing my sister like this; let her know you don't care anymore so she can stop obsessing over you."

And with that, David turned around and left.

"I do care."

Colby said it so softly that he almost didn't hear himself, but it was true.

Once David was a few feet away, he turned around one last time and yelled, "She's in Dallas, by the way," before walking away for good.

People were now flooding out of the arena, so Colby quickly turned around and got into his car.

After getting out of the parking lot, he had a plan. After some searching, he finally found what he was looking for. Most gas stations didn't have payphones anymore, since everyone had cell phones, and they wouldn't want to waste time looking for change. But Colby knew that she wouldn't answer her phone if she knew it was him, so this was his only option.
