Myka's POV
I had a calender above my bed that I kept track of events on. I grabbed the Sharpie on my desk and wrote down a note on the 31st of March. It read "Send Money To Charlotte". We had all met at Starbucks that morning and did the math for how much we would each put into the fund. We had to come up with $902 between the five of us. We all had jobs somewhere in LA so it would hopefully go quick, but March 31st was a conservitive estimate. Charlotte already had a hundred dollars that she would use when she got to LA for a cab. Because heaven knows how much a taxi will cost. I drew lines around the date and put an exclamation point after it. With it being February 2nd, we had time. I was going to get my friend back sooner than I imagined.
Charlotte's POV
Lyanna texted me the plan later that day. I tried to hide my excitment as I read her text. Each of them had to come up with about 180 dollars, it would go really quick. I just needed a way to sneak out of the house to get the money. But that would come later. My only hope was that they collected the money before Nate's birthday, March 1st(It's legit. I looked it up. Did my research for this chapter!), so I could surprise him. I texted Amber to see if she could help with the surprise.
Me: Amber, can you help me with something?
Amber: Sure, what's up?
Me: I wanted to surprise Nate when I came home. I really want to come home on his birthday on the first of March.
Amber: Ok, what do you need me for?
Me: Could you help me surprise him in some way? He doesn't know I'm coming yet.
Amber: Of course! I'll come up with the whole thing, don't you worry!
Me: Thank you so much!
I put my phone down and continued to think. It's the only thing I do when I'm not being the maid. One thing that came to mind was how my parents would react to me running away. They would somehow sue Nate for kidnapping and would want to take me back. A lightbulb went off in my head. I grabbed my phone again and instead texted Kile.
Me: Kile, I need your help with something.
Kile: You mean besides the nine hundred dollars? Kidding. What's up?
Me: I've been thinking about things after I leave London. And I thought about your parents.
Kile: What about them?
Me: I need a restraining order against my birth parents. I know your parents are lawyers and I was hoping they could help me.
Kile: That's genius! I'll talk to them later. All we need is evidence.
Me: And we have it in excess. I'll provide the evidence and you talk to them.
Kile: Alrighty. I'll talk to you later.
I smiled. Everything was coming into position. I pulled out more paper and started planning on my end. Hopefully, The Scene would have the money in a couple weeks. Hale said he would text me with the pickup details. I knew how I would pick it up. Every so often, Laura and James would send me out to get groceries. I would tell Hale the dates I would be out and he would plan accordingly. I heard footsteps coming outside the door. I hid the plans in the secret cubby with my necklace box and quickly shut it. The footsteps faded and I let go of the breath I was holding. If anyone in this house got ahold of the plans, I would be screwed; with a capital s. Grandma Larson left a few hours later, leaving me to clean up the mess. I worked quickly so I could get some much needed sleep. I hadn't slept in a couple days and my efficiancy was taking a toll because of it. I quickly cleaned up the dishes, collected the wine bottles, cleaned the rugs and straightened the furniture. I finished by midnight and was in bed by 12:30. I grabbed my phone and did something I hadn't done in months.
Me: I miss you Dad. I love you.
Nate's POV
While I was cleaning up that night's dinner dishes, my phone went off and played Charlotte's ringtone. At first I thought I was crazy. But sure enough when I checked, there was a text from my daughter. "Morgan! Come here!" Morgan had recently moved in to the house and into the room that used to be my recording room. I moved all the equipment downstairs into the basement. "What, is everything ok?" she asked, running down the stairs. "Charlotte texted me. I swear I'm not joking." Her eyes widened as she looked at my phone. "How long has it been?" "Too long Morgan. Way too long." "Well answer back! Don't ignore her!"
Me: Hi baby. I miss you so much. I love you too.
