One Month Later

Charlotte's POV

I folded up my sheets, placed them in a moving box, and taped the box shut. With a sharpie, I labeled it blankets and sheets. I stacked it up on top of one of the tall stacks of boxes. Finally, I packed up my recording things. I bundled up my cords, took the camera down off of the tripod and folded the tripod up. It was finally over. All my stuff had been packed, waiting to be sent over to mine and Myka's new apartment in London. My piano was staying here and I would find a new one after we moved in. Looking over at my music corner, I saw my mint green guitar. I still had to pack a suitcase with enough clothes to last me until the boxes came to London. I grabbed my suitcase-the one Mrs. Lane gave me- and my guitar case from the closet. I packed the two piles of clothes and zipped up the suitcase. I placed it next to the door and walked back over to the piano. I ran my fingers over the smooth material of the guitar. This was with me since I came home. I still remember playing Emperor's New Clothes and blowing Nate's mind with how good I was. As I was deep in my memories, Hale tapped at my window. I opened it and he hopped in. "You know, I have a front door." "Yeah, but I wanted to do this one last time. You are coming back for the wedding, right?" "I wouldn't miss it for the world. And you'll visit me in London, right?" "Of course I will. I promised you we would get married." We kissed to keep our promises. His hand intertwined with mine and we seperated. "I should go. I thought I would see you before you left. And not let history repeat itself like it did three years ago." He got up and made his way over to the window. "I love you Charlotte. Come to New York anytime." He let go of the edge and I heard him hit the grass. I shut the window and spun around to face the door. Tears streamed down my face. I knew I made the right decision when it came to school. But did I make the right decision when it came to my relationship? I wasn't ready to let him go. I would barely see him and that hurt. Almost as much as leaving my family. Nathan hadn't even turned one yet and I was already leaving. I collapsed on my bed and started crying onto the mattress. This was harder than I thought it would be. The door opened and I heard footsteps on the carpet. "Char, is everything ok?" A manly voice asked. I looked up and saw Nate standing over me. "Baby, what's wrong?" He sat down next to me and grabbed my hand. "Hale came by and said goodbye. And I didn't want him to go." "Oh, sweetheart, I know. It hurts to say goodbye to the people you love. I did the same with my family when I moved to LA. I had to leave them behind and look where my life is now. I have a wife, a son, and a wonderful daughter. And I couldn't imagine getting that anywhere back home. I know that leaving for London, again, is hard. But you'll get through it." I sat up and gave him a hug. "Thank you Daddy." I could tell he was smiling. We heard the honk of a truck. I picked up a couple boxes and brought them outside. I greeted the movers and they opened the back of the truck. Myka's stuff was already in the back. She had promised she would bring her sofa-bed for our living room. Dan, Hale's friend, had already found us an apartment a couple floors below him and his friend in the same building as theirs. I helped with the boxes and the mattress while Nate helped with the bed frame. When everything was finished, they left to bring our stuff across the ocean. I walked back into the house to finish packing before Myka came to pick me up. All that was left was my electronics, my haircare, makeup and body products, and my guitar. I left the bathroom with everything in a smaller bag. I packed my computer, and my phone cord into my purse. I also took down all the pictures on the wall. I set my purse down next to my suitcase and opened up my guitar case. There were extra strings in case one broke in the pocket as well as a pick. I've never used one in the years I've played, but kept it just because. I took the guitar off the stand and into the case. It touched the velvet inside and I shut it. I folded up the stand and set it in my suitcase and I was finally finished with my packing. I brought my stuff down to the front door and sat down in the living room. Nathan was playing on his play mat with his dinosaurs. He saw me and crawled over to my feet. I picked him up and sat him down on my lap. "I have to go today, buddy. Will you miss me?" He grabbed a chunk of my hair and lightly tugged. It was his way of saying yes. I heard a honk from outside. Myka was sitting in the front seat and her mom was in the back. I got up and held Nathan in my arms. "I love you Nathan. I promise I'll be back for Christmas." "Charlotte!" My eyes widened as Myka opened the door. "Did you just... ?" He said my name again and I heard a gasp behind me. Morgan was standing at the bottom of the stairs with Nate close behind. "Nathan!" She said, running over to her son. "Who knew." Nate said. Morgan took Nathan from my arms and handed me a small video camera. "So you can vlog your adventures. I hope to see them on your side of the web." Morgan said. I smiled and gave her a hug. "We should get going. Our flight is in a couple hours." Myka said. I nodded and walked towards the door. Nate ran over to me. "My little baby is all grown up. What happened to the little orphan from four years ago?" "She found herself. Thank you." I hugged him tightly. "I love you Charlotte Louise. Don't ever forget that." I could feel tears on my cheeks. We let go and I grabbed my stuff. With one final wave, that chapter of my life ended and a new one was about to begin.

12 hours later

"Hey guys! I'm here with my best friend, Myka." She waved to the camera as the taxi we were in drove us to our new apartment. "Hi guys!" "And this is half of a day in our lives." "We're the new Dan and Phil!" "Except female. And I have a hardcore relationship going." As we drove, we explained who we were and a shortened version of our lives up to that point. We then passed the Royal Academy for Music. "And that, friends, is the college I will be attending." The taxi parked and we got out, paying the driver. Dan met us outside. "Hey guys! Welcome to London!" We both gave him high fives and he led us up to our apartment. "You guys are more than welcome anytime upstairs with me and Phil. Just come knocking." We waved and he made his way up to his apartment. We got the keys from the building manager earlier. Myka slipped the key into the keyhole and opened up the door. Our furniture had yet to arrive. It would hopefully come tomorrow. For now, we had a blowup mattress and a thick blanket. "It's perfect! I love it!" Myka said, twirling around in our empty living room. I loved it too. It was perfect for our first apartment. We set out the bed and walked through the house, claiming our bedrooms. There was a smaller room upstairs that Myka said could be music room. "Are you sure? We could share it." "Charlotte, you being with me here is enough. And I don't think everything is going to fit in your tiny room. Please, take it." I gave her a hug and we walked into the kitchen to order dinner. While we waited, I brought my guitar upstairs. There was a lone chair in the corner. I grabbed the stand and placed the guitar on it. I grabbed the chair and rigged the camera to face me. "Hey guys, welcome to our web! I recently moved to London with my best friend, Myka, for school. And what better way to sat goodbye to what I know than with a song. I will today be singing Hello, by Adele. My dad, Nate, did a cover of it which I recommend you check out. Links down in the discription for his channel and the video. But I am not my dad. So without further ado, here we go!"

Nate's POV

The dinner table was empty without Charlotte there. She's been gone before, but it felt different this time. Ae knew she wasn't down the street at Lyanna or Amber's house. It was similar to when she was forced to leave with her birth parents. Morgan made funny faces to help Nathan eat. Sometimes, she would laugh herself. After dinner, she went upstairs to play with Nathan and I went to the basement to record a video. Taped on the door was a picture. One I instantly recognized. Our faces were smiling and I was mid laugh. I could hear the noises coming from the beach and I felt better. I knew Charlotte leaving wasn't the end of the world. She promised she'd be home for Christmas and New Year's. I took the picture off the door and taped it above my desk. Just like it was in her room. I would miss her. She was my first child. She felt like a responsibility. Sure, I had a morgage to pay and I had to bring in paycheck to keep me afloat. But Charlotte being here was different. She came before anything else. Even friends. You hear all the time that children will be the adventure of a lifetime, and Charlotte was mine.
