Safia's POV
"Mom!" I yelled, "have you seen my blue hijab?"
"I washed and ironed it yesterday, look in your closet, Safia!" She shouted back.
I was searching for my hijab in my closet and found it just in time. Maybe it would be a good idea to clean my closet out or I'll be having this problem for the rest of the year.
I thanked my mother by kissing her forehead and heard my big brother laughing at me in the background.
"What a great start sis," he said, still laughing.
I ignored him and rushed to catch the last bus to school.
I have an older brother who's four years older than me and a younger brother who's nine years old. I'm the only girl at home and I've always dreamed of having a sister who I could share everything with. Either way Allah gave me brothers and I was happy with them even though they teased me all the time. I guess that's what brothers do. I kissed my younger brother Yassine goodbye and rushed out of the house like a maniac.
I ran to the bus-stop and saw the bus coming. I was holding my hijab down with one hand, making sure it was kept in place. I was holding my phone in the other which was going off non-stop. I finally arrived at the bus-stop and made it just in time.
"Oh God, just in time," I whispered to myself as I jumped on the bus.
The bus was empty so there was plenty of room to sit. I unlocked my phone and saw two missed calls from Amina and Malik. I also had five unread messages. Two from Malik, two from Amina and one from my mother. Amina and Malik had both asked me where I was and if they should wait or not. I quickly responded that I would be there in about 5 minutes In Sha Allah (God's will).
Thank God I didn't live far from school. By bus it took me ten minutes and by foot, half an hour. The other message was from my mother. She messaged telling me that she would be home late and that I had to pick up Yassine from the speech therapist later today. Yassine wasn't bad at English at all, he only had some trouble with mathematics.
After five minutes, I finally got off the bus and only had five minutes until first period. I saw Amina and Malik waiting for me in the distance. I ran towards them with my bag barely hanging on my shoulder anymore.
"Finally, ready to be locked away for another year?" shouted Malik as I was still running.
Of course not, who is? I thought.
I looked at Amina before hugging her. I hadn't seen her in ages. I shook Malik's hand and asked how he was. Malik and I were close but we didn't have a lot of physical contact because of our religion. I asked how their holiday was while we walked inside the school.
"I have a tan so that's the only important thing," Amina said as she raised her arms.
"It was okay" Malik also replied..
Amina was a beautiful girl, she had long black wavy hair and a really slim face. Her tan suited her very well and she had also lost a little bit of weight. I always thought she was perfect but now she looked extra fine. She had a beautiful slim figure.
Malik was the typical popular guy who gets a lot of attention from the girls. I've known Malik for over five years and in the last few years we became really good friends. We were just friends. I saw him as my third brother.
Malik and Amina have known each other for over a year now. Amina moved to town last year. I was pumped when I heard she was moving to my area. I've known Amina since we were little, but she moved away a lot because of her dad's job.
First period started ahead of a long day and before we even knew it, it was already four in the afternoon.
"Only twenty minutes to go," I said to Malik.
Amina didn't take this class so I was going to meet her at Malik's car afterwards.
