Tassia POV-

I woke up the next morning to find Jase hovering over me, with his face right next to mine.

"Good morning sleepy head,"

"Oh my god, Jase! What the hell are you doing here!" I screamed and hugged the covers closer to my body, he shrugged and laughed at my reaction.

"Just wanted to tell you that breakfast is ready, better get down there fast or Donny will eat it all. We're having pancakes." As soon as I heard that, I shot up and raced down the corridor. Donny and River were already at the table, cups of hot coffee in their hands.

"Good morning sleeping beauty," Donny said, as I sat down. They handed me my pancakes and a cup of coffee. They were absolutely delicious. When I was done with breakfast I raced upstairs to get ready. I had a quick shower and got dressed in a dark blue sundress, with black flats. When I got down there, River was sitting in the lounge room, watching a movie. I sat beside him and he scooted over, I moved a little closer and he moved further away.

"Okay, what is your problem with me?" I asked him, in an annoyed tone. He scoffed and then said, "You want to know what my problem is? You come here and you expect everyone to love you. You're probably trying to find your stupid mate," I looked at him, wide eyed. Does he really think that? I'll be living with him for awhile, so I might as well tell him.

"Do you want to know why I'm here? I ran away from my pack because my mate rejected me. I felt my heart shatter into a million pieces, I hate seeing him and I hate seeing all those lovey dovey mates, because I feel broken. And I now my wolf and I will never be the same." When I was finished speaking he was looking at me, mouth agape. Then he just got up and left, I was really confused so I followed him. I'm pretty sure he knew I was following him, but he kept walking. He led me through the woods and stopped in a clearing. There were a few rocks surrounding a huge lake. He sat down on a large rock staring out over the lake. I moved forwards and sat next to him. His face showed no emotion, his eyes looked distant.

After a few minutes of silence he sighed, "were the same, you and I." He told me

"How?" I asked

"I was rejected too, when I came to confront her about the rejection, I saw her lying in a pool of her own blood. I felt my heart being ripped out of my chest, and hers was literary ripped out of her chest."he chuckled humorously I saw pain flash through his eyes, but he soon covered it up. I didn't know what to say, so wrapped my arms around his torso and pulled him into me. I could feel his tears soaking my dress as they streamed down his face. The tears and sobbing soon subsided and he looked up at me. He eyes were still red and puffy from the crying.

"Sorry," he said, in a shaky voice.

"Why?"

"Because your dress is wet and now were late for the bonfire,"

"River, it's fine, really. I just have to change dresses, and we still have plenty of time," I laughed.

"I'll take you back to the cabin." He sent me a weak smile and we walked back to cabin, in silence. It wasn't awkward, we were just thinking to much. When we got there, River turned to me and said,

"Thank you for being there, most people would look at me in pity or feel guilty. But with you, I feel equal. We both lost someone who means a lot to us."

"I feel the same way, Melody doesn't understand how I feel, she is with her mate, and I want her to be happy, so I keep quiet."

"If you ever need to talk. I'll be here," we hugged and went to our rooms to get ready. I had been getting ready for a good five minutes when suddenly Melody burst through the door, she looked red in the face and out of breath.
