Portent

What once was yet to be
Has now since come to pass
What glimmers of hope I'd had
Were lost, like shattered glass;
A mirror I shied away from -
The reflection brought me fear
But what could I have done?
The portents were all too clear -
And when lightning struck the tower
No net was there to catch my fall
But I can't say that I miss you -
I wish we'd never met at all
