Bring me the joy I once had -
Beat the drums, I say
Let their leather-strung barrels
Boom out, deep and proud
Bring me the freedom I once had -
I dream of running, wild
Only now, those days of innocence and wandering
Have slipped away down the pipework
Bring me the life I once had -
No more of this skirting around wires,
Heads ducked, faces frozen in anguish
Like statues, dead and gone from this mother earth
Bring me back what's mine to keep -
Not yours to take,
Don't drink my tears in cruel celebration
Of the black snake you've set upon this world
Bring me the joy I once had -
Beat the drums, I say
Let their leather-strung barrels
Boom out, deep and proud
