Thank you to everybody that read my Frerard One-Shot. It took me five nights of writing and editing and while it's a bit annoying that less people look at what I carefully proofread and thought out than an update that I usually throw together during one night, that's cool, it's not your thing and that's okay, fren. :)

This might not be a great update because I'm not really into Solangelo anymore and I've lost my voices and versions of them after reading Trials of Apollo. Honestly, I would rather be writing Frerard but I'm stupidly desperate for attention and encouragement in my writing and this is the place I really get it so here we go. (On the other hand: 9k? Wtf? THANK YOU!)

^That sounded super whiny and needy (because it was), sorry guys, I'm not usually like this I swear.
Enjoy this chapter!

Will honestly thought he liked girls until age fifteen. And he kinda sorta still did. Some. But sixteen year old Will didn't know that he usually preferred males to females and wouldn't until he had to struggle through his first dating experience.

Her name was Sofia, daughter of Athena, and she was your typical beauty, but the kind of gorgeous that nobody seemed to get tired of. Cascading blonde hair. Sapphire blue eyes that rivaled jewels. Soft skin, pale lips. An American beauty, like the sun fell from the sky. Will always felt like it was a privilege to hold her hand, to talk to her, to even look at her. She was the the sun and he was just space junk flying as close to her as he could until he melted.

Will was thrown into the shade she cast as she twirled through life. He was not used to this.

Will didn't know why Sofia liked him, why she always made a point of including him in conversations with her peers. He supposed it was because she was generally a nice person that likes other nice people. Will appreciated that, he did, but he didn't think that was love. If so, all his books and movies seriously overrated it.

"Will." It was Sofia. They we're eating lunch by the lake, watching the dryads flip and show off in the sparkling water that always seemed so much prettier in the summertime. More sun and more time to admire the only depths.

"Sofia?"

"Will," she laughed, a petite bell-like sound, and flipped her hair over her tan shoulder. "You know I like you, right?"

"I like you too."

Sofia seemed to force a smile, practically a grimace, as she rubbed her hands up and down her shaven legs. "Like, like like."

"Oh. Me too." Will hoped he wasn't lying. He honestly didn't know. Sofia sure was pretty, though.

"Really?" Sofia smiled, making Will smile back at her.

"Of course I do. I asked you to be my girlfriend, didn't I?"

Sofia laughed again and visibly relaxed. "Yes, yes, you're correct. I just wanted to make sure." She was leaning in.

Oh gods. She was leaning in.

And then she was kissing Will and was half-heartedly pushing back, waiting for the magic and the butterflies and the fireworks. There was no passion. There was no want. There was a girl making out with a boy that couldn't care less. He wanted to get away.

Will detached his face from Sofia's grasp, gasping for oxygen. Sofia seemed to take this as a cry of wonder or something, as she immediately tried to pull him in again. She may have a death-grip on his shirt, but not on his heart. He pushed her off. "Sofia, I need to go do something."

She huffed, a scowl on her face. "You said you were free for the whole day."

Will swallowed. "I thought I was, but they need me back in the informatory. I'm sorry."

Sofia rolled her eyes, sighed, and got up. "I'll see you tonight. Talk to me at dinner."

"I always do, don't I?"

Will hurried back to the informatory, nerves on fire. He had lied and he didn't feel good about it, not at all. But he didn't regret using a lie to get himself out of that situation, no matter how cheap and horrible he felt afterwards.

"Will?" Will froze, internally having a heart attack. But when he turned, it was just Nico, who was slouched in a chair in the office.

"Nico? Do you need anything?"

"It's nothing much, just a splinter."

"A splinter? Really?" Despite his words, Will found a smile on his face.

Nico blushed. "It's a bad splinter."

"You know there are other doctors in there. I'm sure at least one was free."

"I know." Nico said simply and Will, to put it simply, felt his heart-rate pick up. Just a bit.
