The classroom in the upper half of the building looked a bit spartanic, yet nice with it's desks and benches from dark wood, big windows on the side and a huge blackboard behind the teachers table. The only thing that Together with Richard and Serena, I had taken a place on the right front side which apparently was the Slytherin corner since we were surrounded by people with ties as green and silver as ours.
Meanwhile, the left side was all blue and bronze. Appearently, this class was together with Rawenclaw, I thought. So...with a lot of smart people. I coundn't help but sigh a little . To outrule those people in class was going to be hard, they weren't in there house for nothing. I knew it was probably wrong to think like this, automatically seing my classmates as a threat. It was just that I had always been really ambitious when it came to school. Outside class, I was just a socially awkward and anxious girl who cared too much about books. Inside class, I was the genius who knew all the answers. At least it had been like that before. Taking into consideration that my tie was green, not blue, I had the prediction that this time would already end with my first lesson at Hogwarts.
Shortly before it was supposed to start, the Gryffindors joined us as well since now also people with red and ties enterd. Only one was green. It belonged to Will, of course, who apparently pretend we Slytherins would not exist and sat by his Gryffindor friends instead.
"Looks like our teacher is going to be late", someone, I assumed Janet, whisperd behind me.
"It's still one minute left", another voice replied equally quite, "and I mean the time table says we have McGonegall.... yesterday she didn't seem like a person who would show up late , rather than someone who stop's existing when she is not on time, no?"
"Even if generally correct, I find that remark quite a bit harsh". Someone suddenly said. That would not have been to extraordinary, if that someone hadn't been a cat. A cat that, under the surprised face of us student's, turned into our teacher. "Since the lesson hasn't started yet, I will have mercy and not take any points from your house." She smiled a little.
"Let's this be a warning for you all. Just because I am old, doesn't mean I can't keep up with you. So now, if you may could all open your books on page 5 where-...."
We didn't get to know what was on page 5. Instead, the door opened and someone stormed in.
"Headmistress? We need you in the teachers room, immediately.", the purple haired interruption claimed, significantly out of breath.
"Professor Lupin, don't you see I am trying to teach here? Sure whatever it is that cause your....excitement, it can wait until after class."
"I am sorry Professor, but it can't.", his hands were moving around during quickly as he spoke. As our teacher still looked unimpressed, he leaned forward and whisperd something, quiet enough we students couldn't hear it. But whatever it was, it lead to a constant change of McGonegalls mind. She nodded, before she turned to us again.
"So there has been a tiny...distraction that has to been taken care of immediately. In the mean time, I want you all to read the first chapter 'What is transfiguration and why do we need it?' and sum up the most important aspects. And put effort in it, since the rest is homework."
Before any of us could protest or question what was going on, she and the other teachers had already left the room quickly, with flying robes. So much for normal classes at Hogwarts. I couldn't help but wonder what kind of 'distraction' there had been. Obviously something serious. Yet secret. Or maybe just something really random, I shouldn't overdramatize. This was the time of peace and stability, and since 70 years nothing special hat occured at Hogwarts. It had been as normal has a magical school could be. Why should that change now?
"What do you think happend", I whisperd towards Serena.
"I don't know, but I think it's better if we just perform our task....not that it turns out the lamp over there is actually our teacher watching us, too." We laugh, and Richard makes a comment about 'how someone seems to be really sceptical here' before everyone opened there book. You didn't have to be in Rawenclaw to know that not following McGonegalls orders was pure stupidity.-A/N sorry for the short and low quality chapter, but I just felt like writing something again because my life can use some magic rn....
