'Do. Not. Open.'
Was the only thing written on the thick wearied out book's front cover in white-out. The locket, encasing all of its secrets was broken and it had literally fell into my lap.
So how was I supposed to resist a gift so precious. It was practically begging to be read.
'Open it!'- The asshole in me screamed loud and clear.
My fingers itched, tracing along the hardback's edges, shaking with the torment my inner mind battled with.
'Don't do it!' - the good guy in me bombarded. The book was black but had crusty old worn down heart and smiley face stickers plastered all along it surface.
Its pages thin and weathered down as well.
Sadly enough I was a good enough guy and thought to leave the book be. I placed it on the bench beside me contemplating to leave it or maybe I should return it to where I found it.
Fate had another plan for me.
A strong gust of wind blew.
The pages of the book sprawled open, and my eyes all to eager to see, traced the beautiful hand writing and stopped.
It was a name.
My name.
Four letters.
And it gripped me.
