"He did what?" Scarlett looked at her and couldn't believe what she just heard.
"He proposed me," Hayley repeated like she couldn't believe it too.
"What did you tell him?" Lisa asked her with calmness in her voice. That calmness that made everybody relax - everytime."I told him, that I need to think about it first. What... What should I.." Hayley stared at Lisa like hoped, that she will give her an answer. "Honey, whatever choice you made, just remember, that I will support you. We will support you, right guys?" Lisa looked at the couple.
"Yes, we will," Scarlett said.
"You know what. I am sorry, but I don't like him," Sebastian said and everyone looked at him, surprise in their eyes. "I love you, Hayley, you are my best friend and I wanna be honest with you. This has nothing to do with Chris. I simply don't like him and I think, that he just uses you for his carrer. He wanna be a part of higher society. And with you this wish came true."
"Seb," Lisa shook her head. "It is okay," Hayley stopped her and turned to Sebastian, "thank you, Seb. But I think I'd notice, you don't know him the way I do. He is a good person."
"Listen, I just wanted you to know my opinion, but I will support your decision, no matter what it will be," he smiled at her. "I know," she smiled back, but she stood there still in silence, confusion in her eyes.
"Just do what your heart says, that is right," Lisa came to her. "It's only with the heart that one can see rightly," she told her and hugged her. "Thank you," Hayley whispered. "I am going to sleep, tomorrow is a big day for Vi and I want to enjoy it with all of you," Hayley said and went to her room, left them alone with unanswered question in their eyes.
Birthday party started and everybody had a good time. Violette played with kids, they ate, they drank, the played games for kids. Hayley invited quite a lot of people and a lot of kids and it was fun, it was like a home were fillfulled with huge happiness. Hayley was quiet, they noticed, that she is still thinking. When the doorbell rang, Lisa opened for another guest.
"Harold, it is nice to see you," Hayley heard her voice coming from a hallway, "come in."
"Nice to see you too, Lisa," he smiled and gave her a bouquet of roses.
"Wow, thank you," Lisa smiled, "I'm gonna put it in the vase," she said when she noticed, that Hayley was approching to them.
"Hi," he kissed her gently on her cheek. "Hello," she smiled back, "can we talk in private, please?" "Of course," he said, she held his hand and lead him to her room.
"So," she smiled nervously. "So," he said and smiled back. Hayley chuckled and relaxed a little bit.
"I've been thinking about your... uhm... your offer. God, I am so nervous," she was staring to the floor, playing with her hair.
"Hayley, it's okay. You don't have to answer today, just take your time," he said and put his hand on her shoulders.
"No, I want to give you an answer today," she looked at him, her eyes were soft and she smiled at him gently."I... I will...," she said and he grabbed her to his arms.
"Hayley," he said with a big relief in his voice."...not marry you," he suddenly heard her silent, whispering voice.
"What did you just say?" he let her go and looked at her. "I am sorry, I can't..." she said and her eyes were different. She pulled out the box with the ring and gave it to him.
"That's it?" he stared at her. "That's all you have to say?""I am following my heart, Harold. And my heart says, that you are not the man I wanna spend the rest of my life with. I am sorry, but I... I simply can't."
"Following your heart?" he almost exclaimed with cruel irony in his voice. "What kind of noncence is this?" Hayley's eyes got widened, but she let him speak. "I gave you... I sacrified you more than a year of my life, my time, my work... And this is what I get? That' s from Lisa's head, right? You will do what she says 'till the end of your life?""You know what, Harold?" Hayley crossed her arms, "you are making this so much easier for me. I mean, I can't believe I almost agreed with your proposal. Seriously, thank you."
He stared at her, he was taken aback and confused. " You can go now," she opened the door for him. He got out of the room. "Oh, by the way, you are fired," she said, "I really don't want to work with someone, who thinks, that I am his reward. I believe there is nothing like that in our contract.""Well, good luck with scheduling your program. I seriously doubt you will manage it without my help."
"You are not the only talent agent in the universe," she said without any emotion in her voice. He hissed angrily something and without another look he left. Hayley entered the room and closed the door. Her eyes fixed with one thing on her night table. No matter where she was, she always bought a bouquet of violets. Her apartment, Lisa's house, random hotel during her travels. She sat on the bed and took a bouquet. "I'd rather spend the eternity alone, than be with someone else, my love," she whispered, flowers on her chest, sadness in her eyes.
She entered the living room, after few minutes, Lisa and Scarlett watched her worriedly. "Who wants a cake?" she smiled and smirked at them. "What?" Scarlett asked. "Let's have a nice time. It's Violette's party," she said. "And here is she!" Hayley laughed when she saw Hayley in Seb's arms her face covered with chocolate.
She told them everything that night. "So, Seb was right," Lisa looked at him. "Yes, he was."
"I'm sorry, Hayley," Sebastian came to her and held her hand.
"Better now than never," she smiled. "Oh, and Scarlett," she looked at her, "I was wondering... You are looking for a job, I am looking for an agent. Someone who could help me with my time schedule. So... Would you be interested?" Hayley asked her and Scarlett's face got brighter. "Seriously?" "Yes." "When can I start?" Scarlett hugged her. "That was quick," Sebastian laughed. "Tomorrow," Hayley said, "I was invited to make few vocal seminars in Boston... So somehow we must fit it between you, Violette, my study and my work at theater..." "Oh, this is so exciting," Scarlett was thrilled.
Life changed, again. For Hayley and Violette new era has began. They travelled a lot, more than ever and Scarlett travelled with them. Hayley taught students in Boston, she worked hard and her diligence was admired by all people she's ever met. She became really famous and honoured amongst people in music line. She grew up and and found her way how to deal with problems, with people. With her family behind her back and daughter by her side she was happy. She finally found her inner peace.
It was the last day in Boston and Violette got sick, so she stayed at home with Scarlett and Lisa and Hayley decided to go alone.
"Do you want me to buy you something? Some toy or book? Or do you wanna a candy?" Hayley was sitting in her room with Vi. "Surprise me, mommy," Violette whispered. She had really bad sore throat, so she was barely speaking. "Okay, honey. Just be good, okay? I will be back in two days." She kissed her little daughter and left. It was hard to leave her like this, but she knew, that Lisa will give her the best care. She got to her hotel room in Boston, bouquet of violets already on her table. "Alright, last two days," she sighed and sat on balcony with cup of coffee in her hands.
